About the neighbourhood
Ponta d'Ouro is the nearest village in southern Mozambique to South Africa. There is still evidence of the 1970's war years with some old burnt out houses still around. The village is developing into a much sought after seaside destination as the bay is sheltered from the southerly winds, and there are areas of calm for small children. The area is renowned for excellent sea fishing, wind surfing, kite surfing or just spending the day at the beach where the sea is turquoise blue and warm.
How to get there
From South Africa, head to the Kosi Bay border (border opens from 8am and closes at 5pm). From the border keep right and then all roads (there are numerous tracks across the dunes) lead to the Ponta d'Ouro village. Keep straight until you see the campsite ahead of you and turn right. Follow the road until you see the NTSUTY LDA sign on your right.
