Town: A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the countryside around the village of Uplyme, on the border of Devon and Dorset is crisscrossed with bridleways and footpaths, notably the East Devon Way, and offers ideal country walks and breath-taking views. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, a television chef, chose the location for his River Cottage headquarters at Park Farm, where you may treat yourself to a fantastic lunch. You can reach Lyme Regis' breath-taking Jurassic Coast with a short drive. The charming harbour provides frequent fishing expeditions, or you may try your hand at fossil searching. This old seaside town has a maze of little streets with an eclectic array of shops and cafes, while the sandy beach lends itself to fantastic swimming and watersports.
