In Salento respect for the simple country meets contemporary rigor within the walls of an old carriage house tastefully renovated. The guideline of this small home is the contamination of local tradition with colors and furnishings of metropolitan taste. In fact larger than the use of materials with the use of local stone and in the workforce, where we made use of the experience of local artisans. So here in the bedroom, served by a bathroom with whirlpool tub, the mattress was laid on top of a masonry structure that serves as a bed and also incorporates two bedside tables. An old door reveals and access to the veranda covered with terracotta tiles, ideal place to think and dream lulled by the breeze scented with lavender and rosemary. The living room is the second master bedroom with the sofa bed and the furniture deliberately essential. Some items sometimes alluding to the local culture are mixed with pieces of contemporary design, giving it a taste of artifact ever lived. The kitchen and second bathroom a perfect blend of the interior with the exterior and bright thanks to large windows that lead to the view between aromatic and medicinal herbs, surrounded by the lush greenery of citrus. The kitchen also opens onto an outdoor dining area defined by prickly pear and old stone walls which together with the large fig tree supporting the tent sheltering from the hot sun. Finally, it is exploited in a sustainable rainwater flowing in an old tank cut in stone, through a system of ducts need artificial irrigation of the vegetation. The environment inside and outside the home is therefore intense and at the same time with minimal additions of the past that combines the best of modern technology, thus proving to be the best retreat for relaxation and freedom.
