Our Honeymoon

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Jan 2022via mobile
My Husband and l arrived yesterday at what we thought was going to be luxurious accommodation for our honeymoon.

The room was filthy!!!!!!!! Dead flies on window sills, every surface was thick with dust, cob webs on the ceiling, toilet had mould around the rim of the bowl. There were black hairs in the bottom of the fridge the list goes on!!

We took photos and l cleaned what l could, then in the morning l went and informed reception of the state of the room. They told me the cleaner’s had been under the pump and they would send someone up to clean the room while we were out, she also said she would have the manager call us - neither of which happened!

I also pointed out that the reception was filthy with dirt and dead flies at the entrance .

We also sent a email to the Heritage management with no reply. Nothing from anyone. This was unit 9B and it is the furthest thing from luxury we have ever seen and terrible service especially for people celebrating something as special as their honeymoon!

Shame we can’t show all the pictures of how bad this was. So disappointed. Never again.

We spent 3 nights here before travelling to Queenstown. We loved the whole concept of the resort, if you’ve got a boat and want to spend time on the lake you could not get better. Positives, lovely comfortable bed, underfloor heating in bathroom - lovely even in summer, great breakfast included in our rate, huge deck and lovely spa with TV. Things to improve - fairly minor, but a few minor maintenance things including a front door that was almost impossible to open with the security swipe and the over use of fake flowers - just not my thing. All in all we really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were great snd we’d return. Good value for money.

Room tip: For afternoon sun - room facing west - numbers 13 upwards?? If you like morning sun and to be close to the restaurant rooms 1-12 are better

Staff very friendly - apartment was nice but needed some attention to stove top. The apartments are owned by individuals but under the Heritage umbrella so it can take a while for owners to sort problems out.
Be VERY aware that there are upstairs and downstairs apartments together so if you are downstairs and others are upstairs you are aware of their noise/moving around etc. Deck very big and nice but needed a damn good clean. Still enjoyed ourselves until our last night but that is a long story!

Echoing what others have said, this place is in huge need of some love and care. Nearer a 3 star but with 5 star prices, and the water views aren’t enough to make up the disappointment. Broken appliances, furniture, fixings, glasses, bed, the list goes on! It turned into a running joke as to what we would find next. Reception promised it would be attended to, but customer service never came, and as others have said, the staff DO know how bad the place is, but are smiling it away. Despite the awesome waterfront location, staying in Cromwell is the much better option, and you can actually enjoy having places to eat and drink.

We've just finished 12 days travelling around the southern loop, and this easily the best place we stayed at. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay here longer. Stunning views, very big unit, huge comfy bed, the best shower we had anywhere, and a very clean room. No issues with anything in the room, it was as close to perfect as we could hope for. The Moorings restaurant (as part of the resort) was also top notch. Less than 10 minutes out of Cromwell (on the Wanaka road) not only did we love it here, but it was also less expensive than many others we stayed at, and in these covid times there are some great deals to be had. We would stay here again without hesitation. Totally recommended.

A nice location & lovely views. Friendly staff & good communication.
We were there for 4 nights & there were a few maintenance problems. Sink taps loose, door into the bathroom jamming, draw in vanity unit drops on the left hand side. Bulb over mirror blown, part of window latches were missing and the windows didn't close tightly and let in a draught. No fire evacuation plan on the back of the door, as mentioned in the compendium, re What to do in a fire emergency. Filter on air con unit needs serviced it was displayed on control unit.
We went to front office & talked to the receptionist about the faults. She was going to get the manager to repair the faults. No one came & did anything for our whole stay. When we check out we talk to the man in reception & told him about the issues we had previously reported on our second day and explained that we had not had a great experience and it did not meet up to the five star rating. At no stage was there a sorry or an offer to talk to the manager.
The Manager was going to email us regarding the above and haven't heard from him.
