We were shouted out for brunch, but my partner really expressed his desire for undercooked poached eggs which he had ordered and they came out overdone. He did not send them back. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were also over cooked. Not to mention the fact that the ciabatta bread was toasted but not buttered and very dry. A drizzle of I think oil was around our plate. Very disappointing and over priced. I could have cooked a better meal at home for a fraction of the price and more palatable. For $14 it was a total rip off

A huge shame your requests were not met. We cater for many preferences and pride ourselves on guest experience and delivery.
Our bread (of which there is a choice of 4) is always unbuttered as many prefer it without. Butter is available if desired. It is also always toasted for eggs on toast.
We are always open to approach and will do whatever we can to give our guests that which they desire. All critique motivates us to look at what we do now and in the future.

We go there at least once a year. this year (April 2024) the food was very disappointing. Beef cheek risotto: How can you serve a risotto after 10 minutes? it takes 20 min to cook... It was overcooked and ridiculously sweet. Pulled pork Hamburger: good french fries, Pulled pork too sweet! It was just bread and meat, nothing else (some over sweet sauce and a gherkin in the mix but not distinguishable)

Did you change your chef from last year?
Too expensive for the quality.
It took ages to clear the table. Nobody asked if we wanted dessert.
The place is still spectacular. Great atmosphere.

It is not often we get berated for fast service. All our dishes and the equipment we use to create them are designed for fast service. A lot of preparation goes into preparing meals so they are readily available on the day. The beef cheek alone is a 3 day process with inducing flavour and slow cooking prior to plate preparation. We have nothing on the menu that takes 20 minutes to prepare on the day
It is regretful you found a dish too sweet for your taste. We Test every dish with our guests before we finalise it and this dish has been popular throughout summer with local and travelling guests.
Much as we would love to know , we are unable to provide flavours that every individual likes.
The Pulled Pork Burger likewise.Along with gherkins, there is mixed slaw, BBQ sauce, aioli and Brioche Buns.
If a dish is not to you satisfaction or desire, we readily provide a refund. It is not in our makeup to provide other than delicious healthy, ethical and locally sourced food. We would love to look after you. If you wish to make contact we will refund you or if you wish to sample other dishes we do will also provide these on the house.
All the bestc

We came here for a quick lunch on our ebike ride from Napier. We were delightfully impressed with the whole venue. Whilst we only had a quick lunch from the display cabinet we’d all love to come back & try some of the main menu meals. They looked great.
We all agreed the homemade sausages rolls were probably the best we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The broccoli salad & toasted ham & cheese croissant were as expected. Nice & crunchy & fresh.
The venue seems a little miss matched inside & out, but, somehow it works in this wonderful location.

Thank you for making the ride out and enjoying our eclectic and different venue. We all take immense pride in what we present so everyone can partake of something special.
It has taken many difficult years to shake off the shackles of what used to be before us and for what we have created to show through.
Safe travels

I was happy with the venue as a place to sit and chill. But really annoyed that myself and my husband ordered an iced coffee and iced chocolate. Was asked by the waitress if we would like icecream and cream in that we said yes. Went to pay the bill at the end to be charged extra $1.50 for the cream and $3.00 for ice cream in each of the drinks. Was not advised at the time of the extra cost. I could have brought another food item for the extra $9.00 extra I spent. Not happy. :(
