The new owners Kerry and Robyn have completely reinvented the place. A good thing too: a beautiful spot like that deserved a great team. They make everyone feel totally welcome. The two open fireplaces make it a really comfortable place to enjoy in the winter (and very hard to leave). The view is magnificent and the outside setup is just gorgeous, perfect to enjoy in every season on a typical Hawke’s Bay day.
Robyn’s little shop of fine things is also a lovely addition.
A must visit location during any Hawke’s Bay trip.

This was another Hawkes Bay opening that made me happy to be back. It’s great having a place that has good standards. Tasty, wonderfully presented food; very friendly but not desperate service, genuinely helpful; beautiful refit ; finally a great place at the end of the Clifton road to take people to with confidence.

Firstly congratulations to the owners on taking on this gem of a spot in Hawke's Bay. They have put a huge effort into turning it back into what will be a 'must-do' place to visit when in this region. We took our staff for breakfast on two separate occasions and both times we were received warmly and made to feel most welcome and our breakfast choices were delicious. The space has been transformed into a true 'Hygge' experience. We wish you the very best in your new venture. You deserve to do really well and am sure you will have an epic summer ahead! Hawke's Bay is lucky to have yet another excellent hospitality venue in an amazing location. With best wishes to you all from the team at Birdwoods Gallery.

Finally this iconic location has an owner with care, style and know's how to deliver a great experience.

With some nice changes like whitewashed walls, an additional fireplace and some creative enhancements to their outdoor areas this cafe has come of age.

It's a great location for all, tourists and locals alike, families, friends and couples.

A great menu for both breakfast and lunch and a really good selection of counter food. Nice coffee too. There are some really good touches that lift their offering, Holly bacon, chorizo hash, tasty bread, a variety of mushrooms and eggs benedict on greens instead of bread.

We can't wait to go back for lunch.

Go there as soon as you can, they deserve it and so do you.

The view alone is worth going to Hygge for but the new owners are certainly making some long overdue changes to this cafe and finally this is a cafe that is welcoming, has been tastefully renovated and renewed, and sells great coffee and good food. Although I only had a coffee and scone, the coffee was great and the scone was freshly baked. The food in the cabinet looked inviting and the staff were friendly. This is now a popular place at which to meet up, it was busy and comments I overheard were complimentary. The transformation of this cafe is quite amazing and a credit to the owners who have vision in buckets and a passion to make this a success. Go, you wont be disappointed...great food, great coffee, great view, great vibes. The intention is for Hygge to eventually open longer hours and at nights for functions and dining. Another bonus for this special part of Hawkes Bay.
