The guide Joshua was not enthusiastic and shows us bird who are sitting every night at the same place. We saw raccoons and he told us six times that he hates this animals. It was like to do the minimum till the two hours are gone. Not so spectacular .
It has been so nice to spend some of each day walking through the forest trails and enjoying the grand views all the way to Puntarenas on the coast.
Our first room. #18 was in the woods, spacious and cool. To stay over we had o move to #6 which i would not recommend. It has only one tiny unscreened window and is too hot to be in during the day. We spent the afternoon in their hammock garden
The night tour was delightful, with sightings of sleeping birds and small mammals and insects and an excellent guide . . . . but even better was our exploration of the whole preserve during the daytime: amazing vistas, magnificent vegetation, a great walk.
We did a guided night hike at this private preserve and it was worth it! We saw at least a dozen sleeping birds, including some at short range (a few feet!), agoutis (a small mammal), a small tree mouse, and an assortment of frogs, insects and spiders. Our guide was competent and knowledgeable, if a tad less personable than some of the other guides we used in Costa Rica.
We were a bit nervous before we started but there is no need to be.
well organised and safe, everyone is given a torch but make sure you bring a storm coat.
our guide was very calm and knowlegable its more of an insect and fauna walk than mammals,we did hear coaties but didnt see them.
scorpions spiders roosting birds giant moths and butterflys was the order of the day.
a very enjoyable night.
Amazing how these guides can find wildlife after dark! We got to see so much on this night hike! Emerald toucanet sleeping in the tree, blue crown mot-mot, scorpion hiding in a tree, owl butterflies, lightening bug caterpillar and so much more! 2 hour hike, not too strenuous.
