“Best views in Bondi”

We are two retired couples who stayed in Bondi for the first time. When we arrived at Sirona by the Sea we were a bit concerned as the outside of the building looked a bit grubby and we wondered just what we had booked. However when we opened the door to the apartment we were pleasantly surprised. A great big picture window looking right on to North Bondi beach kept us occupied for the times we were actually in the apartment. The apartment had been fairly recently renovated and was very comfortable for the four of us. Possibly could be a few more serving dishes for those wanting to eat at home - we managed to eat out mostly at some fantastic restaurants within walking distance.
Alex was very helpful and dropped off some extra blankets in case we were cold. The information booklet in the apartment was very informative and we tried quite a few of the restaurants that were mentioned and enjoyed them all.

We didn't hire a car and didn't need to as we were right opposite the bus stop, very handy to Bondi Junction and the train system and with the pensioner day pass could travel all over Sydney for $2.50 per day.

The coastal walks are a must for anyone visiting Sydney. We caught a bus to Maroubra one day and walked to Clovelly for lunch and then continued on to Bondi , a fantastic walk of about 10 kms, thoroughly recommend it. Would definitely recommend this place. However we did stay there in May and there did not appear to be any heating in the apartment so it could be a problem in winter if not addressed.

“Picture perfect views in a fabulous location!”

This rental worked perfectly for our 5 day stay in Bondi. Gorgeous views out the main living area windows that also provided access to the sea breezes! Alex was easy to work with and helped us with our schedule when arriving early to Sydney. There was even a bottle of wine and TimTams stocked in the refrigerator when we arrived!

The apartment was clean and suited our needs. The bus stop, food, groceries and shopping were all within easy walking distance. We had plenty of room for our group (3 adults, 3 kids + toddler in a baby cot) other than the kitchen - while well stocked it is only suitable for one adult at a time.

“Incredible location in beautifully renovated apartment - take me back!!”

Seriously, I could write a short story on how wonderful our stay was at Sirena by the Sea. I could wax lyrical about Bondi Beach all day, but in the interest of giving you the important info about THIS PROPERTY, I will try and refrain from telling you all the things you should do in Bondi. Although things might just slip out of me as I relive our stay!

Firstly, the good stuff....

The Owners
Really helpful! We arrived late at night and there was a manual on the table with a handwritten note from Alex - a very nice touch! Upon reading the letter we also discovered chocolate biscuits and a bottle of wine in the fridge - seriously sweet gesture. The manual is filled with everything you need to know about the apartment, including where everything is kept in the apartment and the wi-fi code to info on public transport, cafe and restaurants in Bondi and great walking routes. So good! Very helpful guys.

The Location
OH. EM. GEE. Having never been to Bondi before, we knew we were close to the beach but didn't really know what Campbell Parade was like, how busy it was or how easy it was to access the beach. Well, it's as easy as walking out your front door, crossing Campbell Parade (which is just a road, not like a highway or anything) and making your way down to the sand. Unbelievable!! Plus, the apartment is at the northern end of Bondi Beach, so it's a lot quieter than being right up on the main drag where all the shops & bars are, but you are seriously only a 5-10 min walk from being right in the heart of it. And best of all, there is a bottle shop only a few mins walk away - what more could you want?! There's an IGA up the road for supplies, numerous cafes and restaurants, ice-cream shops... ahhhh Bondi is where it's at! I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Sydney, especially during summer! Oops, back to the review.. So the location is mad, when you walk out the door of the apartment building, there are buses going everywhere, good links to the city. But also, if you are staying local, you don't need any transport, just walk everywhere! (Must do is the walk to Tamarama beach - just do it.)

The Actual Apartment.
Wow. Just wow. We were a little concerned, you know. We've all heard the stories about paying for accommodation that looks beautiful online, only to rock up after a long flight and it's an absolute dive. Or even worse, it doesn't exist at all. So we were skeptical, wondering if we might have to spend our first night on the beach. Fear not! All is well! It is a real place, it is exactly as described and IT. IS. BEAUTIFUL!!! We walked in and it felt like home straight away. But the best part? How well equipped it was. We had all the usual suspects, like cutlery and crockery, glassware, pots and pans, but then there was bottle openers, and less common kitchen utensils, champagne glasses, a dishwasher!!! Plus there was also a washing machine with heaps of washing powder, sh!t-load of toilet paper (no pun intended), body wash in the showers, soap... honestly, we didn't have to go out and buy ANY of that stuff, which is so awesome when you are travelling, because what do you do with it when you leave? The attention to detail was also second to none. Ok, its not a HUGE place with HUGE rooms, so what did they do? Put hooks on the back of the bedroom doors, and supply towels with loops so you can hang your towel up. Seriously, these simple little things made a huge impact on all of us. Thank you!

Now, the bad stuff....

Haha! Just kidding! There is no bad stuff! There were a couple of things that I will mention in the interest of providing an honest review to try and help you decide if this property is actually for you, but it's in no way, shape or form a complaint or gripe! We truly loved our stay at this place.

So, there is no air-con or fans in the property. This is only a minor complaint from me, because it didn't really hinder our stay all that often. The ceilings in this place are really high, so it doesn't get super hot, and we were there over the New Year period, and it was hot man! There were a couple of afternoons that we were getting ready to go out early, and it was a bit sticky, and the very last night was absolutely sweltering, I had to get ice from the freezer and pop on my head, but other than that, it really wasn't that noticeable that there was no cooling. But if you are someone that gets hot very easily, maybe just thinking about that.

The only other thing I want to mention is that if you are staying with a group of friends like we did, and you are sleeping in either of the front rooms, be prepared to be woken up when your mates wake up and start making breakfast / brewing coffee / watching TV / anything in the main area of the apartment!! If you are anything like me, you will hear them, it will wake you up - and I love a sleep-in! If this is a deal-breaker for you, but you have your heart set on this property, just make sure you choose the room down the back, closest to the bathrooms. At least my room had killer storage!!

And that's it. Nothing that ruined the holiday or anything, just a couple of things that are worth mentioning.

Book it! You won't regret it. This property is listed on a few other sites if you want more reviews, but Trip Advisor has a really good safety guarantee, so book with Trip Advisor. And book this place.
