Just not got around to doing this review but always intended to. Large family get together 7 adults aged 63 to 18 and one 12 year old. We had a fantastic holiday in this villa, it's quirky with rooms around a pool. A bit colonial in style with a lovely covered patio area around the pool with ceiling fans, a bar (with 2 fridges which we kept beers etc in), dining table (seats 10) several comfy sofas and chairs around coffee tables. We spent most of our time at the villa outside but the lounge and dining area were nicely decorated with a large TV. The kitchen was small but adequate. 3 bedrooms in the main building and then 2 more in an attached building which also surrounded the pool all ok each with their own air on unit. The pool overlooks a wild area where we saw wonderful birds and monkeys on a daily basis. The pool is surrounded by a high wall and the villa on nearly all sides.
We loved Holetown and from the villa (10 min walk) we could be in restaurants (which were all excellent) shops (local supermarkets and diamond stores) and the beaches including Folkestone marine park where you can snorkel. Bars which the younger ones visited in the evening.
The 2 jeeps we hired allowed us to visit the caves, Barbados animal sanctuary ( go at feeding time it's a must do), Mullins beach (nice bar/restaurant and beach) Oistins Friday fish fry night (The local people are the most friendly and helpful we have ever met and boy can they party) The boatyard on Carlisle bay (an all inclusive day club with loungers, loud music, food, beach, climbing iceberg off the pier and trampoline, our 12 year old loved it, 40 dollars pp for the day which includes 40 dollars worth of drink and food pp, great fun) catamaran trip was amazing we swam with turtles and snorkelled over the reef, these are just a few things we did on this wonderful holiday.
The villa is in an idea location, the owner was very helpful and the maids kept it very clean. I didn't give it 5 stars as it's a bit worn in places and some of the bedrooms only have slats as windows and could do with screens. But it's excellent value for money and we had the best family holiday we have ever had.
We stayed here for 2 weeks with our grown kids and brother in laws family- 8 adults in all- and we had plenty of space. The house is perfectly located in a very safe, quiet setting within walking distance to the beach, great shops and restaurants. The house also has plenty of space (and bathrooms) and we spent most of our time outside by the fantastic pool, it was perfect! Also the air conditioning in the bedrooms and living area worked very well and was much needed.
We drove all over the island of Barbados and realized Holetown and its vicinity is the best area to stay in with the nicest beaches. We enjoyed snorkeling, scuba diving, zip lining, horse riding, fishing, a catamaran trip and lots of good food! Above all, the people of Barbados are the best we have ever encountered (and we have been to many places around the world)- so helpful, polite, friendly and will go out of their way to assist in any way. We look forward to returning soon!
