What use to be the par exemplary definition of service has sadly deteriorated into a sad and unfortunate experience this past Friday. First a kudos to the manager who did comp our friends horrible experience with ordering fish; only to wait long past the rest of us who had received and eaten our meals; but they brought her a STEAK.

Lest we forget the two friends who ordered the beautifully display of their ceviche order. They paid the price the next day with a severe intestinal virus.

My order as well as another’s who did get the fish she ordered all were delicious and safe.

But this restaurant proposes a first class experience with first class prices and cannot deliver. The layout is a problem and if you are fine dining and the guy from the beach comes into the place in his speedo well it loses that romantic or pleasurable dining experience you were probably looking for.

We ate at Iron Shore Bar and Grill twice during our week stay at Roatan! We never eat twice at the same place on ANY vacation. We did not stay to the Grand Roatan hotel (we were at Mayan Princess) but did not mind the 10 min beach walk for those 2 dinners. Our family of 8 hail from NYC/NJ area where we have Peter Luger's, Morton's and other top notch steak houses so we did not have high expectations when we ordered the Tomahawk and Cowboy steaks. But boy were we pleasantly surprised! Cooked medium rare to perfection (overdone always a risk outside of the US) and you can cut them with a butter knife! Nice and charred on the outside, comes out on a sizzling plate. Sooooo good you don't even need steak sauce. The other dishes were also good (fish sticks, tortillas) though grilled lobster was only so so, but the steak was the highlight. We asked the staff where the steaks were from and were told it is from the US. Our waiters were super attentive and friendly. On our second dinner the chef even came out to say hello and we couldn't gush enough to him how much we enjoyed his food. Definitely recommend having a meal (or 2) at this place while in Roatan. Thanks for the recommendation Mr. Bill!

We are back at Grand Roatán Resort for the third year in a row; and Iron Shore is part of the reason!

Having arrived near lunch time, my first meal was one of my favorites from the menu; the lobster tail burger; it did not disappoint! My wife decided to try something new; Anna’s Special; a ceviche fusión incorporating conch! Delicious!

We caught up with the chef during our meal, and he said he would have fresh Octopus cooked on the grill for dinner....yummy! Dinner time it was; the Octopus was fresh, tender and grilled to perfection! We also had the Oriental Lobster, also new in the menu for us; this was something else: tender lobster chunks tempura fried and covered in an oriental sweet and sour sauce; I am a lobster fan and this dish really blew me away!

Thanks Chef!
