Owner description: The Ashridge Estate consists of 5,000 acres of woodland, chalk downlands and lush meadows. You can walk for miles and see a variety of wildlife such as Fallow deer and Muntjacs as well as the more common, foxes, badgers, squirrels etc. We have a well-stocked shop at our visitor centre, as well as toilets and a non-NT cafe, which serves hot meals all day long. If you need help when you arrive you will find a helpful volunteer on the reception desk who can point you in the right direction.

Now's the time to visit as the bluebells are stunning, they will take your breath away with their luminous beauty.

A meadow of bluebells is a wondrous sight to behold! And Ashridge doesn't disappoint. Carpets of purple, dappled light, huge old oak trees- it's like something from a fairy tale.

Once again this year, an amazing display of bluebells in Dockey Wood. There is a small car park across the road from the gate. Was raining, so did not walk right round the footpaths, but many were doing so. Back to the visitor centre for a hot drink.

Loved this National trust find which was pleasantly beautiful with free entry and parking. Visited this shortly after visiting another national trust place Berkhamsted castle also free entry and parking outside opposite grounds if you are lucky.

We visited with our elderly parents. Enroute we saw deer which was special and lots of bluebells. The weather was not warm enough for us to venture too far.

I was disappointed with the cafes food and beverages. The cappuccino did not taste of much likewise the tea. The tea cakes were over toasted and dry and I was short changed £10 and no apology when I pointed it out. They had run out of Jacket potatoes and yet charged for them so had to have that refunded. Apart from the lady who took the money I would say everyone else was very friendly and happy and made up for the poor experience at the till and of the disappointing quality of food.

would return to this place on a warmer day for a longer walk
