Let me get this straight right away. If this Country pub hadn’t proclaimed it’s “recently refurbished rooms” so prominently on their website I would have perhaps cut them more slack.
However, our room - in the cottages outside, was supposedly their highest offering (most expensive room) and was very jaded and tired. For example - 2 coat hangers, discarded tissue under the bed, giant cobwebs in the bathroom and a very rusty radiator (photos obtained and offered to the staff member upon checking out. She didn’t want to see them but said she’d report it to management - This was delivered in a world weary manner without writing anything down, which suggested she perhaps already knows.) On the plus side, the village is very charming, the pub warm and rustic and the beer excellent.
I must also commend the younger staff members for their pleasant and helpful manner - perhaps they can advise the older couple serving Sunday breakfast on providing a warm welcome and willing “can do “
Service at breakfast. In a rare turn up for the books the more mature couple were put to shame by their young counterparts. Sunday Breakfast seemed to be rather too much trouble. A marked contrast to the young team on previous days.
In conclusion - more attention to detail and customer service required. Great beer though. More
