We stayed at Villa Walton twice during our trip, once in the Boiler Room and once in Cole Room. Both times were wonderful. Diane is such a good host and the rooms were excellent. In fact the whole building is delightful, especially if you like period features, a sense of history and luxurious homeliness. The area is peaceful, with expansive views over countryside. Diane was flexible about breakfast, which was plentiful. She provides a constant supply of tea, coffee and cakes in the restful, sumptuous lounge. There are books to read, a baby grand piano to play, and there are plenty of places to sit outside to relax and read, mostly in the shade of the traditional wooden verandas. It seemed nothing was too much trouble for Diane and Chris and they have a relaxed, easy manner yet are unobtrusive if that’s your preference. What more is there to say? Great water pressure in the showers, plenty of thick soft towels, quality bed-linen, better than some so-called 5-star hotels.
Nothing much negative to say. Just make sure you read the booking website so you have accurate expectations about room size, capacity, (no) air-con etc. Internet was rather slow; I suppose it’s a long way from the exchange. It’s not the proprietors’ fault. It’s rural here.
