“Fantastic house for a family celebration!!!”
Reviewed 15 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Belmont House was the perfect place for our family celebration. The garden was brilliant for the kids and there was plenty of space in the house for everyone to relax.
The owner could not have been more helpful. The whole house has been completely refurbished within the last couple of years to an extremely high standard. The bed and bed linen were to a very high quality. There was unlimited quantities of hot water, even with 12 adults and 3 children, in the house.
The kitchen is marvellous, the professional size grill makes quick work of a cooked breakfast, etc. and there is even a large gas BBQ outside.
There are great walks from Edale. The start of the Pennine Way is less than 200 yards away. It was lovely to come back to a warm and comfortable house.
There are 2 pubs in the village, we tried The Old Nags Head Inn, which had good food and well kept beer.
Ocado even deliver, which make stocking up on food very easy.
I could write pages of complementary comments, but others have said it all - Belmont House is fantastic!!!!
We are looking forward to our next visit to Belmont House.

“Brillian house for a group get together”
Reviewed 12 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We enjoyed a long weekend break at Belmont House. It was furnished well with very comfortable beds and quality bedding. Brilliant bathroom facilities and plenty of space for the 11 of us. It can accommodate up to 16 and there would still be loads of room. We were lucky enough to get reasonable weather and use the gas BBQ and outdoor furniture supplied. It is ideally situated for walking breaks, we were able to walk straight from the house and has great views. I would recommend this property, we has a great time. The enormous chocolate cake left for us on our arrival was an added bonus!

“Incredible accommodation for stay with friends”
Reviewed 1 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Belmont house was perfect setting for our hen weekend celebration. The spacious well-equipped kitchen made meal preparation easy and we were able to hold a 'bake-off' competition using the two ovens. The dining room had space for all 15 of us to sit comfortably and we hired outside caterers for a really special evening. A real bonus that all rooms had a bathroom and the beds were very comfortable with nice squashy pillows. The garden was beautiful with plenty of space and well-maintained garden furniture.

There were board games and plenty of info provided about nearby attractions. Beautiful walks straight from the house around Edale and up Mam Tor. Asda delivered direct to the door which was a bonus and we had a great pub lunch at the. Ramblers pub just a 5 minute walk away. The station is also less than 10 minutes walk from the house and there was ample parking so very easy for friends to travel to us from all over the country.

The owner, Morgan, was so helpful before our stay and provided us with all the information we needed to plan the weekend. Fresh flowers, prosecco and a huge chocolate cake were waiting for us on arrival.

Thank you, we loved it and will be back I hope!

“Praising comments, however ......”

Group of 13 adults stayed in Belmont House for a week mid April. Whilst we would all agree with the praising comments made by previous visitors we were disappointed to find the so called double attic room, as opposed to the king size double room, totally unacceptable.

No couple should be expected to squeeze into an unventilated room.

Access to the far side of the bed was over the top or round the bottom on your knees. The room, in its present condition, can only be described as ensuite storage space.

On raising the issue with the owner we were told there are plans to put a window in the roof of the room. This obviously would be an answer to the non-ventilation problem. Perhaps bunk beds or twin beds should be considered as an option there is not room for a double bed.

The property photographs show no pictures of the room - only the ensuite shower room which did have a sealed window to let in light but no ventilation.

If we had been aware of this problem we would have found alternative accommodation for some of the group.

Management Response
13 Jun 2015
Belmont House has 6 bedrooms, 5 of which are large and roomy; the 6th is an attic bedroom in the eves. There are 2 windows in the attic room but they face onto skylights in a corridor as opposed to being externally opening, this will be resolved with the addition of a skylight later this year. There is a large remote control wall mounted fan in this room providing quiet air circulation as required.
I have never had any complaints about the attic room and have stayed in it myself on many occasions, when sleeping in here as a couple myself (and all other guests) have slid the bed forward a foot to allow anyone sleeping on the inner side passage behind the bed, in case of needing a toilet trip during the night. The en-suite is of a good size and has ventilation provided by an extractor fan.
This bedroom is less well suited to more elderly couples and better suits children and young adults as a twin / double or for use as single occupancy.

“Just Perfect”
Reviewed 11 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We booked to stay at Belmont House for a week over Easter, having been for a weekend last year. It was even better this time! We were 8 adults and 7 children aged between 1 and 7 years, so our needs were quite diverse.

Location - Couldn't be better, nestled in the very pretty village of Edale, with the historic Kinderscout viewed from the back garden - beautiful, dramatic, peaceful. Lots of activities within easy reach, the families in our party did various activities: three walks on surrounding hills, two walks around Derwent Water, one trip to Speedwell cave, one trip to Castleton, one trip to Chatsworth House and probably some other things that I can't remember. There were still plenty of things that could have kept us occupied for longer.

Facilities - They seemed to think of everything that we would need, with a few extra touches that you would normally expect from a hotel, not a holiday let.

The House - Just amazing; beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, a large garden and outside seating area (we were very lucky with the weather). A large lounge, huge dining room and a breakfast area at the end of the enormous kitchen. The beds are soooo comfortable, the bathrooms have good showers and are recently done, so very clean.

The owner was away when we visited last year, but here this year - a really helpful and friendly chap!

I heartily recommend this wonderful house in a lovely location.

Top Tip: The owner is able to put you in touch with a local lady who makes the most amazing dinners - as we had travelled from far and wide (Dorset, Glasgow etc.), we ordered a lasagne for our first night and it was waiting for us when we arrived - delicious, home cooked food.
