Have visited a few time to watch the Football. On the most recent occasion they had placed Reserve signs on tables. Now whilst this is understandable for diners it seems very odd to do this for drinkers! It would seem drinkers have to drink up and move on to make room for drinkers who have booked to come in. I understand times are strange but this does not make sense and is very off-putting so much so I shall give it a miss in the future. One other observation - it is not a good idea for the Licensees to make comments about other drinkers within the earshot of customers - discretion is called for in any retail outlet.

Ive not been in for a year or so. The venue has been refurbished and is a welcome improvement. It’s now under new (to me) management.

Firstly the bar staff are polite enough but struggled to cope with a busy Saturday night service. However, the Landlord and Landlady....A more miserable pair of individuals you would struggle to find.

I can’t actually be bothered to list the various issues my group had with them. None were particularly serious but the level of over-reaction, rudeness and disbelief on their part was staggering. The customer is most definitely always wrong...

Perhaps quieter days it’s better, but I doubt it...

Nice pub good for watching football land lady lovely but land lord needs to smile and greet people proper miserable

This was our first visit to this iconic pub although I have lived in the area all my life. Surprisingly it was much smaller that we thought it would be, it was a bit cramped and the only place to sit was a standing height table and two benches. Not very good if you are small, meaning you had to ‘climb’ onto the bench which left your legs dangling in mid air. There was quite a lot of us as it was a family get together so space was limited. Having said that when the staff saw we were not very comfortable they moved in a large rectangular table together with lots of comfortable chairs for us, which was appreciated. On the night we went a DJ was setting up but we were not able to stop as we had reservations at a restaurant opposite. I think we may go back one day when it’s not so crowded.
