“Wow what a climb”

Not for the weak, infirm or unfit, but take your time and the views are excellent. The old well, battlements and surrounding areas are worth it too.
There’s a charge of 3 Euro at the very top but the views of the little town and local vineyards are worth it

Well worth the walk. And worth climbing up to the top of the tower. Fabulous views from all sides across the valley. Very interesting.

Take note that the castle opens at 10am and if you go early to climb the hill on a hot day to beat the heat, you will not be able to enter (as was the case for me). However, you can walk all around it and get treated to fantastic views which is the best part anyway. Definitely the best thing in Brisighella

Yup, this is a real medieval castle in the heart of wine country! Check the hours because it is not always open for tours. 3 euros per person and is centrally located between Brisighells's three peaks. take your time then find the path to the clock tower then head down to the city for bruschetta and wine. Can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon.

The fortress, La Rocca Manfrediana, is easiliy accessible by trail or by walking the road from town. In the summer of 2015 I believe it was open only in the morning, Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 12, so plan ahead. Internal exhibitions were at one time planned but seem to have been abandoned (funding?) In any event, the internal stairways, narrow, spiraling, almost claustrophobic for a full-sized adult, are very cool and the views from the outer walls are splendid.
Don't miss the clock tower, which can be accessed by a road walk from the fortress, or separately by a beautiful trail with stone steps directly from town. The views there are magical too, especially down to Brisighella, looking like a perfectly preserved toy medieval village below. The clock tower itself is locked but one can walk around its perimeter and there are terrific views all around.
