Case del Viento is a beautiful house high up in the hills of La Manzanilla. The house has 3 apartments (one is the owners') and a casita down the steps below the pool. There is a very nice swimming pool and the property is nicely landscaped.
We were what was called Apartment 2. It was spacious and comfortable with 2 bedrooms (really great beds) and bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, large living/dining room. Both bedrooms had A/C. The bedroom windows also have screens so one can open the windows and let the breeze through. In fact, Casa del Viento (means House of the Wind) lives up to its name - the wind is often very strong and keeps the place cool. Our view was over the 'jungle'. We did not have an ocean view.
Before we left for our trip I had asked the owner if there was a TV and DVD player, who responded that there was not. When I expressed disappointment because we wanted to watch DVDs, The owner very kindly bought a 32" television and a DVD player for our until. We really appreciated that gesture.
Although we very much enjoyed out experience in Apartment 2, we would have preferred a view of the ocean. The top apartment which I suppose must be #1 does have a marvelous sea view. Only the bedroom and bathroom have doors. Otherwise the property is open, including the kitchen and sitting room as well as a very large terrace with views over the ocean and the jungle. For a real 'Ocean' experience, we would recommend this apartment.
A few things you should know:
1: Because the house is built on a very steep hill, there are lots of stairs. If stairs are a problem, then this might not be your place.
2. The roads down to the village and the beach are rutted, rocky, steep and dusty. If you have a car, you can drive (very slowly). Otherwise the walk back up is steep (one can take a taxi).
