My husband and I not long back from the warrick resort. We went to celebrate our anniversary and husband's birthday. After a horrible experience at Fiji airport (lost luggage) we arrived at reception to be greeted by friendly staff. I was given a form to check and sign which was someone else's name and address. I said thats not me and the lady scored out the details and said can ypu write in here yours. I then got our room key and off we went. We had paid Xtra for a ocean view room. So I was very surprised when I opened the door to a garden view. Right away i thought we have been allocated the other persons room I called reception right away and was told all our rooms are ocean view mam . So why was I charged Xtra for upgrade . Got my travel agent onto that one. Our room was only ocean view if you sat on the left side of the balcony only and even at that it was very little. We were ground floor 182. Most definitely garden . Which was beautiful and well maintained . But not what we paid Xtra for. The room itself was very old , dated and needed updated . Definitely not 5 star as advertised more a 3 . So be aware of that when booking. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I had slept on. The sheets and pillow cases smelt musty I had to put a towel on my pillow as the smell was that bad. The room was ment to have robes and slippers . We did have very cheap slippers but no robes. There was a noice from the airrcon and we had to turn it off the sleep. The next day we had no water. They were working on the pipes over night . The water ran dark brown the whole of next day so unable to wash till late in evening. I was so dissapointed in the room. The balcony was also infested with ants .. to be fair i think thats ants are an issue in fiji. Our novotel in nadi was the same old dated and pool area infested with them. 😑 now onto the positives . The maids were in cleaning and changing the sheets daily and even turned bed down at night for you so this was a lovley . The staff were an absolute delight ....the food was just amazing from the buffet to the menus. We were all inclusive which I would recommend because it's one of the most expensive places I have ever been to as you get to see prices on your bills and menu. Also check your bill the night before you leave there was so much on there that was part of my all inclusive package they tried to charge for. That seemed to be a re occurring theme after speaking to other guests .. some over charged by 800 bux . I was also told when I booked it you can eat in all the restaurants. That was wrong the wicked wahu seafood place the steak bar and the Japanese were not part of all inclusive . We did book 2 of them but decided not to bother as the prices were astronomical. There was plenty choice in the bula brassiere and Italian which was just lovely. My only negative was if you orderd a drink you could wait a long time as you got forgotten about i had to repeatedly ask were they were most days . The resort itself was very well looked after apart from rooms.
The beach was great. The snorkeling was just ok I've snorkled in Maldives so no comparison. The 2 hr journey from airport was a surprise as I was told it was an hr .... again I said ok we are going to a 5 star resort so it will be worth it. Covid was blamed and the 2 yr shut down for the lack of maintenance. This was 20 yrs worth of wear and tear not 2. We made the most of it and did have a nice time . Just dissapointed we paid a lot of money and didn't get what was advertised. Pictures are very deceiving. I would go back to Fiji in a heart beat but not to the warrick. There are other resorts there that are higher end for the same price as there and ypu get what you pay for. When ypu book a 5 star resort the rooms should reflect that . These definitely don't. If you don't mind the room situation and the 2hr journey then yes I wod highly recommend this resort. It just wasn't for me.

Room tip: The resort advertised as 5 star its more a 3 its very dated and needs updated . So book with caution.

Two Aussies 25,26 year olds experience in October 2022.

    Getting to the resort:
2 days prior to checkin I emailed the resort asking what transport options there were to get to the resort from Nadi, there was no response at all (Still haven’t heard from them).
    Google gave 2 options,
    - take the public bus from the Nadi bus stop (10FJG pp)
    - Take a taxi/private vehicle transfer (150-200 FJG)
We chose option 1 with sunbeam buses, it took 2 hours and was completely packed. We had to push our way onto the bus and were only able to secure 1 seat for the two of us. Just because you have a ticket doesn’t mean to get a seat, it’s first in best dress. The bus dropped us on the side on the highway, not into the resort.

    Check in:
Upon arrival there were beautiful gardens and the staff we lovely and welcoming. Checked in at reception with no issues at all.

    The overall stay:
    Positives:
    - Staff were friendly and helpful.
    - The views and exterior of the resort were lovely.
    - A lot of activity’s to participate in, a lot of which were free.
    - Lots of family’s with young children (negative for some).
    - Pools were lovely, we did find it strange that the swim up cocktail bar is in the family pool not the adult only pool.

    Negatives:
    - We stayed in room 122 (ground floor), upon walking it it smelt musty and stale. The room was dated, we paid for a queen room however received a double bed instead. The mattress was a old cheep spring one that bottomed out when you sat on it. Not supportive at all leading to a very poor nights sleep. It was very noisy at all hours, hope you’re a deep sleeper! The ceiling in the bathroom was very low, I am 6ft 2inch and my head was nearly touching the ceiling. The bathroom was also very dated with a very small shower/bath and appeared to have mould in the silicone.
    - Food and drinks were average and overpriced. There are 5 restaurants to choose from. We ate at the main buffet style for all breakfasts (only one open and included in our booking), it was ok. We had 1 buffet dinner which again was just ok. This costs 80FJD per person….The next night we ate at the steak house outside. A 300g standard steak costs between 92-100 FJD. It was alright however no different to a basic pub in Australia (for half the price). Drinks were very pricy too, cocktails all 29 FJD besides the specials that were 15-18 FJD each. The cocktail specials were pre made and too sugary sweet. A corona was 20 FJD, the house wines 18 FJD.
    - The monopoly of the resort is frustrating and leaves you paying top dollar for everything. Housekeeping put a 1.5 litre bottle of water in the room each day, if you want more than that your only option is to purchase it at the bar (crazy prices). All of the restaurants and bars are part of the resort, you can put everything on your room or pay with card (3% surcharge)

Overall I can’t say I recommend it, very expensive for average food and drinks, dated noisy rooms and that the resort don’t offer and sort of shuttle from Nadi leaving you to pay 147FJD to get back to Nadi by a taxi.

Bula Vinaka and Greetings from Warwick,

Thank you for your detailed feedback following your recent stay with us.

First and foremost, we are truly sorry to learn that your whole holiday experiences did not meet your expectations, which was impaired by various factors. Warwick Fiji is committed to providing our guests with the highest quality of services and facilities and we sincerely regret that we fell short of our goal in this instance.
In regard to your comments relating to our bathrooms, we agree that we have a few areas to improve on and this is currently in progress through our soft upgrades 'preventative maintenance' project.
We also take note of your concerns relating to our pricing & would like to advise you that, just like any other hotel operation in Fiji, there are pricing regulations set by the government of the day which is inclusive of taxes. More than a few food & beverage items are not unavailable locally thus we import & pay duty for the same. This heavily influences pricing at point of sale.
We hope that we may again have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, leaving you with more memories of our resort & its people.

The Warwick is a well run resort with a lot of features that our family enjoyed, such as a swim up bar, spa, a few different bars and restaurants, a gym and activity center and free hire of towels, snorkeling gear and paddle boards. There were nightly activities, including some breathtaking dancing and fire twirling.

The highlight for us were all of the sporting activities, such as pool volleyball, soccer and touch rugby. The staff are really fun and inclusive and friends were made quickly.

The shopping trip to Sigatoka was well worth it as it was one of the only opportunities to get out into the local community. It was a decent bus ride to get there, but it was engaging because there was a guide talking about the local culture and pointing out landmarks along the way). We had about two hours of shopping and exploring the town. There was a bit more selection in the souvenirs that you could buy in town compared to at the resort, but similar prices (unless you are much better at negotiating at the local market than we were!). We were back at the resort for a late lunch.

There was a kids buffet that had a consistent selection of food that most kids like (e.g. chips, chicken nuggets, pasta). Our kids were a bit older and became bored of the kids buffet, but there were no easy options to upgrade them to the adults buffet. The adults buffet had a different theme each night with lots of variety and we also enjoyed the Italian restaurant, but did not book in for Teppanyaki quick enough and so missed out. It is worth looking carefully at what is included in the 'all inclusive' as we got caught out a few times when ordering things that were not included, especially for the kids.

The pool was a lot of fun and balls and other pool toys can be purchased from the shop. There were lounge chairs around the pool, but most were taken before the pool opened for the day and there was only limited shade.

The resort caters for families, but can feel a little segmented at times with a pool, beach and restaurant that are adult only.

The room was a little small and wasn't really set up for spending much time in, but had everything we needed plus free Wifi and a tv. The housekeeping was fantastic and our laundry was returned nice and quick.

Room tip: Look into the detail of the all inclusive option to get the best value and if you want a seat by the pool get in early
