My husband and I not long back from the warrick resort. We went to celebrate our anniversary and husband's birthday. After a horrible experience at Fiji airport (lost luggage) we arrived at reception to be greeted by friendly staff. I was given a form to check and sign which was someone else's name and address. I said thats not me and the lady scored out the details and said can ypu write in here yours. I then got our room key and off we went. We had paid Xtra for a ocean view room. So I was very surprised when I opened the door to a garden view. Right away i thought we have been allocated the other persons room I called reception right away and was told all our rooms are ocean view mam . So why was I charged Xtra for upgrade . Got my travel agent onto that one. Our room was only ocean view if you sat on the left side of the balcony only and even at that it was very little. We were ground floor 182. Most definitely garden . Which was beautiful and well maintained . But not what we paid Xtra for. The room itself was very old , dated and needed updated . Definitely not 5 star as advertised more a 3 . So be aware of that when booking. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I had slept on. The sheets and pillow cases smelt musty I had to put a towel on my pillow as the smell was that bad. The room was ment to have robes and slippers . We did have very cheap slippers but no robes. There was a noice from the airrcon and we had to turn it off the sleep. The next day we had no water. They were working on the pipes over night . The water ran dark brown the whole of next day so unable to wash till late in evening. I was so dissapointed in the room. The balcony was also infested with ants .. to be fair i think thats ants are an issue in fiji. Our novotel in nadi was the same old dated and pool area infested with them. 😑 now onto the positives . The maids were in cleaning and changing the sheets daily and even turned bed down at night for you so this was a lovley . The staff were an absolute delight ....the food was just amazing from the buffet to the menus. We were all inclusive which I would recommend because it's one of the most expensive places I have ever been to as you get to see prices on your bills and menu. Also check your bill the night before you leave there was so much on there that was part of my all inclusive package they tried to charge for. That seemed to be a re occurring theme after speaking to other guests .. some over charged by 800 bux . I was also told when I booked it you can eat in all the restaurants. That was wrong the wicked wahu seafood place the steak bar and the Japanese were not part of all inclusive . We did book 2 of them but decided not to bother as the prices were astronomical. There was plenty choice in the bula brassiere and Italian which was just lovely. My only negative was if you orderd a drink you could wait a long time as you got forgotten about i had to repeatedly ask were they were most days . The resort itself was very well looked after apart from rooms.
The beach was great. The snorkeling was just ok I've snorkled in Maldives so no comparison. The 2 hr journey from airport was a surprise as I was told it was an hr .... again I said ok we are going to a 5 star resort so it will be worth it. Covid was blamed and the 2 yr shut down for the lack of maintenance. This was 20 yrs worth of wear and tear not 2. We made the most of it and did have a nice time . Just dissapointed we paid a lot of money and didn't get what was advertised. Pictures are very deceiving. I would go back to Fiji in a heart beat but not to the warrick. There are other resorts there that are higher end for the same price as there and ypu get what you pay for. When ypu book a 5 star resort the rooms should reflect that . These definitely don't. If you don't mind the room situation and the 2hr journey then yes I wod highly recommend this resort. It just wasn't for me.
