Two Aussies 25,26 year olds experience in October 2022.
Getting to the resort:
2 days prior to checkin I emailed the resort asking what transport options there were to get to the resort from Nadi, there was no response at all (Still haven’t heard from them).
Google gave 2 options,
- take the public bus from the Nadi bus stop (10FJG pp)
- Take a taxi/private vehicle transfer (150-200 FJG)
We chose option 1 with sunbeam buses, it took 2 hours and was completely packed. We had to push our way onto the bus and were only able to secure 1 seat for the two of us. Just because you have a ticket doesn’t mean to get a seat, it’s first in best dress. The bus dropped us on the side on the highway, not into the resort.
Check in:
Upon arrival there were beautiful gardens and the staff we lovely and welcoming. Checked in at reception with no issues at all.
The overall stay:
Positives:
- Staff were friendly and helpful.
- The views and exterior of the resort were lovely.
- A lot of activity’s to participate in, a lot of which were free.
- Lots of family’s with young children (negative for some).
- Pools were lovely, we did find it strange that the swim up cocktail bar is in the family pool not the adult only pool.
Negatives:
- We stayed in room 122 (ground floor), upon walking it it smelt musty and stale. The room was dated, we paid for a queen room however received a double bed instead. The mattress was a old cheep spring one that bottomed out when you sat on it. Not supportive at all leading to a very poor nights sleep. It was very noisy at all hours, hope you’re a deep sleeper! The ceiling in the bathroom was very low, I am 6ft 2inch and my head was nearly touching the ceiling. The bathroom was also very dated with a very small shower/bath and appeared to have mould in the silicone.
- Food and drinks were average and overpriced. There are 5 restaurants to choose from. We ate at the main buffet style for all breakfasts (only one open and included in our booking), it was ok. We had 1 buffet dinner which again was just ok. This costs 80FJD per person….The next night we ate at the steak house outside. A 300g standard steak costs between 92-100 FJD. It was alright however no different to a basic pub in Australia (for half the price). Drinks were very pricy too, cocktails all 29 FJD besides the specials that were 15-18 FJD each. The cocktail specials were pre made and too sugary sweet. A corona was 20 FJD, the house wines 18 FJD.
- The monopoly of the resort is frustrating and leaves you paying top dollar for everything. Housekeeping put a 1.5 litre bottle of water in the room each day, if you want more than that your only option is to purchase it at the bar (crazy prices). All of the restaurants and bars are part of the resort, you can put everything on your room or pay with card (3% surcharge)
Overall I can’t say I recommend it, very expensive for average food and drinks, dated noisy rooms and that the resort don’t offer and sort of shuttle from Nadi leaving you to pay 147FJD to get back to Nadi by a taxi.
