Wonderful holiday

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Feb 2024
We enjoyed a lovely holiday with our family - including two children 11 and 6.
Naviti is a great resort- the staff are so friendly - always greeting us with a “bula” when we pass by. We had the “all inclusive package”. Most of my negative comments are about that - really they should just drop the restrictions and this place would be 5 stars for me.
Rooms in the 400 block are clean - ours was very cool with AC. One room found it better to leave all curtains closed to maintain temperature. It’s nice to have separate bath and shower in the room. Beds comfortable. Room has many immenities - iron, fridge, kettle, safe, make your own hot drinks.
Bring your own water bottles to refill each day ( especially if you arrive late ).
The pool is great - warm water - lots of chairs - no saving issues. Towels available 9-6 in the hut - would be nicer if they were closer to pool.
Pool service was amazing! Tema, George and Vika- all the staff at the pool bar - thank you for going the extra mile ! They personally keep the pool area clean and the guests happy. It would be nice if all guests could have all drinks. The cocktails aren’t fancy but all inclusive can only have beer, wine and spirits with no juice or frozen mix. Charging for a kid’s slushee is silly. Snacks are a ridiculous price so bring your own for kids.
Buffet was good - very much enjoyed the live guitar music and singing. The system for meals was a bit confusing- especially for kids. Order off menu or get buffet but there’s no dessert on menu and you only get one plate - if it’s not enough or you don’t like it - you can’t have more, unless you chose buffet.
Breakfast was the best - buffet has everything you could want. Fresh omelette station, croissants and chocolate pastry, cold cereal and the best oatmeal. Rotation of pancakes and French toast, always bacon and sausage… fruit, yogurt and much more. Everything is “get it yourself”.
Lunch was also good - always a soup, breads, salad station, fruit and dessert.
Many hot selections each day. Never went hungry.
The Bamboo Restaurant was not bad. Not great for kids though. Can’t understand the system - you can’t just order off the all inclusive menu for kids. They don’t have a kids menu. Whatever you order them from the menu costs you extra. They do bring a shared bowl of rice - probably didn’t need to order much for the kids.
Because of that, we stuck to the buffet and it was good.
Again, ordering off the menu is ok- but why do they have appetizers and mains but you can only order one dish?
No tea or coffee at dinner without extra room charge.
We enjoyed the roof top patio at night with sunsets and beautiful breeze.
Shows were hit and miss -the Tuesday night show with dancing and singing from the local village people was lovely.
Recommend visiting the various coloured huts early in your stay. The green hut with Rachael was wonderful! Kara and Paul give THE BEST massages we have ever had. Sure, it’s not a spa, but the breeze from the ocean and pleasant conversation about their life in Fiji is a great experience. They helped us to book a trip to the waterfall. The highlight of our stay. Joe drove us 30 min to the village - they did a Kava ceremony and we had opportunity to buy souvenirs from locals. It’s a 30 min hike to the waterfall, through lush forest - it’s a concrete path most of the way - but there are 6 crossings of the river in shallow rocky spots - bring water shoes.
The waterfall itself is breathtaking with a natural pool to swim in. Take plenty of water to drink. There’s a change hut and washroom - but that’s all.
You can jump from some areas with help from the guides.
On our transfer back to the airport we asked for a stop along the way to shop. It was great to support the local kindergarten when picking up souvenirs and a snack.
The water sports at Naviti were dependent on the tides - so very limited in availability- the big water bikes were “closed for repair” - yet nothing ever
happened. The kayak we got was broken, filled with water and eventually flipped.
But, the two boat tours we had were excellent- glass bottom coral reef tour and daytime bay tour with snacks and wine. Book these early in your stay. The sunset cruise was unavailable due to the tides. Golf has too many extra costs… bring your own balls and tees. The course is rough for the amount they charge to rent equipment. It was hot the day we tried - take drinks.
We borrowed life jackets and went snorkeling. The best area was beyond the village. Locals are happy to show you. Always wear clothing to cover up when walking through the village.
The reef is spectacular at mid tide - fish, plant life, just gorgeous!
Overall, Naviti has so much to offer. We did enjoy it and would go back.
Vinaka and thank you !

We stayed for 5 days. We had an issue on our flight where one of our bags was smashed. The airline replaced it the next day and Mua, the porter, brought it straight to our room when it arrived at the resort.
Any questions we had Lowata at Reception was very informative and assisted us when we asked. She was also extremely patient when explaining things to us. She also assisted us with arranging babysitting for our children after the kids club closed, while we were out on tour. The babysitter, Mary, was wonderful. Our children enjoyed their time with her.
The Kids club was brilliant. Lei was very patient with all the children. You could tell she loved her job. They had a schedule of activities for the kids every day, which was available at reception and at the counter at the kids club. Our children could choose when they wanted to go, based on the activities available.
The adults activities were also fun. Unfortunately due to the tide and rain we missed out on the sunset boat and snorkelling tours, but the Activities staff loaned us snorkeling gear so we could take ourselves out to the reef.
The resort is a little tired, but you can see where they are updating the rooms. The staff, food, views and numerous daily activities exceeded our expectations. Everyone was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We did not want to leave. We are planning to go back next year, but for a longer stay.

Room tip: It is approximately 1.5hrs from Nadi airport.

The resort in February is nice, although the pool music is a bit loud. The staff is very welcoming. The music that accompanies meals is lovely. I had a wonderful Tropical massage from Anna. She is an excellent masseuse. I highly recommend her.

Don't go in school holidays unless you have kids. Don't go if you expect to find a quiet corner to relax. The resort was incredibly noisy - both the endless pumping music at the pool and the main dining room which was horribly loud. If you wait to eat later they run out of basics like knives and forks. The staff were lovely, without exception.
Food in the main dining room was depressingly awful and expensive if you weren't on the meal plan. However, the Chinese and fine dining restaurants were very good.
The new sunset bar will be great in the dry season but we had rain every night (not unexpected at this time of year), so barely got to use it.
If you have kids, it's probably great.
