A big resort with all the facilities you can imagine, but it was also so quiet and relaxing. We stayed for 6 nights, surrounded by couples and families with young children but it was still so peaceful. A choice of 6 swimming pools helps of course, or the beautiful beach. This is a great hotel. The staff are always welcoming you and smiling and we found them very helpful. Situated at Kata Noi Beach this is also a very good location. There are plenty of cheap restaurants and a few shops if you want to explore, and Kata itself is just 200 baht and a 5 minute tuk tuk ride away. So you get the best of both worlds staying somewhere quiet with a lovely beach and still close to the busier town. We loved the breakfast everyday at Seacrets looking out to sea. The hotel has a spa, and they offer massages by the pools too. Or there are roughly 6 massage parlours on the street. For the relaxed holidayer though, some advice is to get your beach towel down early on a sun lounger as they get taken very quickly (before breakfast). Personally I dislike this but needs must as everyone does it and the pool staff don't 'police' it.

Exceptional beautiful resort with 3 to 4 outside restaurants nearby for cheaper dining option. Good location and very beautiful private beach with spectacular swimming pools.
Amazing big compound with beautiful manicured grass

Family trip, searching for some sun during the first week of January. The resort is overall ok but some elements need to be taken into consideration/improved in order to align it to 5 stars top resorts:
1. Family Deluxe rooms are to be avoided as their prices do not reflect their location (no sea view, no direct access to the sea). Junior suite cost 30€ more but boast a much better price/quality
2. Staff hardly speaks any english, which often generates misunderstandings
3. Bfast ok though without the variaty of choices you would expect
4. Service in restaurant is extremely slow
5. Despite the size of the hotel and of the beach, there are no sunbeds nor infrastructure pn the beach

On the positive side, staff is very polite, rooms are clean and the overall layout of the resort is beautiful. 30-32 degrees are great and the seaside on the northern part of the beach is wonderful

Room Tip: Junior suite

This was our second family reunion at this hotel in 6 years, and like the first time we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly, the accommodation at the Bhuri wing spacious and clean and our request for ground floor rooms with interconnecting doors for parents and children (7 rooms in all) was granted.
The gala dinners at Christmas Eve and new Years Eve were fabulous, the breakfasts quite delicious.
The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The one area of improvement in this day and age is the internet (or lack thereof).
We had a wonderfully relaxing time and were sorry to leave.

We were in Kata Noi for a friend's wedding (held at the nearby Impiana Private Villas) and took advice to stay at the Katathani. While I have no expertise in relation either to Thailand or luxury resort holidays, I have to say we were not at all disappointed - it seems to me this place is really first rate. The location on Kata Noi beach is one of perfect seclusion from the hustle and bustle elsewhere on the island. The beach is a public beach but very clean (due in part to efforts from the resort) and with far fewer people than we expected. The resort covers a huge area spanning both sides of a street running parallel to the beach. Although the road ends just after the resort and so is fairly quiet, friendly crossing guards are present at all times of the day and night to help guests who need to cross from their rooms to the pools/beaches. The condition of the property is immaculate, from the manicured grounds to the spacious, comfortable and tasteful rooms, to the six (yep) swimming pools including a stunning infinity pool right by the beach. Our room was one of the more basic family options, without a sea view and not a suite - but was very large and comfortable. Some other reviews I read mention mould and damp - there was no sign of this at all in our room - on the contrary, the clear instructions about the air conditioning should prevent any issue, if they are followed. It is a very humid climate, so when the air conditioning is on the balcony doors must be kept closed, otherwise the condensation is visible.
Breakfast was included in our package and this was well worth it - one of the best hotel breakfasts I have encountered and certainly served in the best location - directly overlooking the beach. Other food we had within the resort was of a high standard, and by Australian standards for a five star resort not too overpriced, though prices are of course much cheaper at the little line of cafes just behind/next to the resort. Within the resort we particularly enjoyed the cheerful and high quality pizza restaurant. Our five year old absolutely loved the swimming pool and also enjoyed the kids' club. The high level of service and attention to detail at this place are what I would expect from a five star resort, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a resort holiday.
Finally, I think it is worth mentioning that some friends who stayed at the associated Shore at Katathani at the same time felt that their room's private plunge pool actually acted as a lure for Mosquitos; in contrast there were no sign of a any mozzies where we were.
