“Absolutely fantastic, a perfect place to discover authentic Umbria”
Reviewed 27 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

With our 3 kids, my wife and I have spent 2 weeks in Giorgio's house located in Bettona
and it was absolument fantastic. The house itself is very nicely decorated, spacious with everything needed to feel like at home. Weather in August was pretty hot but as the house is old with thick walls, the rooms were still fresh in the evening with was very nice. We enjoyed the beautiful skys and sunset every evening from the terrace and from this village on a top of a hill, there's a splendid view over Assisi and the surroundings.

All this is about the house but what made our stay unique is the way Giorgio welcomed us like friend in his family. With a lot a respect to privacy, Giorgio offered us to discover his region, this beautiful Umbria, and it really made the difference for us. From time to time, we went together to visit hilltop historical villages, or local producers (cheers, wine, ...) and we have spent 2 village fiestas together feeling ourselves part of the village thanks to him. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a authentic atmosphere far from the overcrowded touristy places of Tuscany. Assisi is very close too, we've been there 4 or 5 times, Perugia is a very lively and a nice city to discover too, there are lots of little historical villages very close to Bettona. We'll be back for sure because 2 weeks is too short for such a nice place. I hope you'll have the opportunity to stay at Giorgio's place, but book in advance, next august was already booked during our stay and we're thinking of coming back too :)

“Beyond expectations, a magical base for touring Umbria”

First I must say that I doubted the pictures could be accurate - surely the place couldn't be all that was promised. Well, it was all they promise and more. First glimpse of Bettona, set high in the sky - a jewel of a medieval village. Then the realization that Casa Foresti IS set in the wall of this magical place - the ceilings are graceful arches, the artwork is exceptional, the rooms spacious. A private little patio with a romantic table where we sat with our Montefalco wine, meats & cheeses from Nurcia, and listened to the birds as we watched the sunset. You can spend a day wine tasting, or exploring the hill towns - everything is close! And yet you'll be pleased to return "home." Every room had some charming note. The garden gate leads down a lovely little path to the door, framed with a grapevine. And right next door? The town park with spectacular views over the valley. A bedroom with a large bed (my 6'3" husband loved it!) and another room with two singles, two bathrooms, one with a washing machine. A kitchen to prepare meals - two dining tables, a living room with a cozy wood stove, wi-fi, TV. Have I said enough? Can't imagine ever coming to Umbria & not staying here!
