Our trip was running from Zakinthos Town, the free transportation provided to get us from Laganas, turned up 20 minutes later than scheduled. We were on the Voutirakos Cruises's newest yacht and to be fair, that was the only positive about the whole experience, the boat is 2 years old, in very good condition and very fast, which was a positive as it could get us out of there quicker. Before even leaving the harbour we had almost crashed into the pirate ship sister boat. Not exactly a confidence booster. We sailed for a little over an hour to get to the shipwreck cove, the last 20 minutes being very choppy as it usually is as the northern end of the island, and faffed about for a further 15 minutes trying to park the boat before they told us the waves were too big to stop. So we started heading back to the blue caves, a lovely area and a nice swimming site, but we stayed there for an hour rather than the planned 30 minutes as we missed out on the hour stop at the shipwreck. A little long to look at caves from 200 meters. So onwards for the journey home, only on the way back, the captain had a great idea to risk out lives 3 more times. Trying to pull into other small coves on the way back to the harbour and almost running aground on the rocks in the exact same conditions that we experienced when we abandoned the plan to stop at the shipwreck. The comical experience was not finally complete until we once again almost crashed into another parked boat on the way back into the harbour. A lot of shouting, horn blaring, and 5 near death experiences later, we were able to disembark and return to dry land which is where I recommend everyone to stay.
