We did the 3 day southbound walk in mid-November 2023 and absolutely loved it! A great boat ride to Totaranui and 3 days of walking through the park, with luxurious lodges and delicious meals. I can't recommend this trip highly enough. And if you aren't keen to walk the whole way, you can kayak days 2 and 3, which is also spectacular.
If you haven't got 3 days to spare, do a day trip with Wilsons instead, mixed walking and kayaking.
Thank you Wilsons, this was a real bucket-list trip.

The weather was not on our side..rain.
The trip went ahead with 5 paddlers and 1 guide.
Our kayaking instructions were comprehensive and not overly complicated.
Our guide, Ian, was very conscious of our comfort and safety. Despite the inclement weather Ian maintained a positive attitude and was informative about our current locations and onwards journey.
Of the day trip, 8.30 - 4.10, we paddled for 4 hours including a lunch stop with a hot cup of tea.
We didn’t see much sea/wildlife… due to the weather?
Overall, we had a great day. Ian was the difference between a wet, miserable paddle and a pleasant day out on the water.
We ordered 2 packed lunches..one would have been sufficient for 2 people.

Thank you for pointing out there is no such thing as bad weather. Preparation is everything.

The sea kayak guided trip to Split apple rock was great fun. I was initially a bit nervous but our guide, Glen, was very reassuring and gave great tips on coping with waves etc. I would highly recommend this trip.
We also took the boat out to anchorage and hiked there before being picked back up. Anchorage Bay is just stunning and the hike from there is an easy one, only about 1 1/4 hours but really nice. Also worth doing.

We're eight months late in writing this review, but that does not diminish the fact that Liana was an excellent guide during our wonderful three days hiking tour with Wilsons in Able Tasman NP. Liana was engaging, joyful, knowledgeable, and helpful along every stretch of this beautiful park. We would highly recommend her for any hiking or kayaking trips, and she also teaches skiing as well as leads outdoor and environmental education. She and the Wilsons' team added immensely to the enjoyment of our journey, and she is one of the many reasons we plan to visit to New Zealand again in the future.

We used Wilson’s as a water taxi to hike through the Abel Tasman National Park. They were really slick and professional and very safety conscious.

One of the highlights of our trip was finishing our hike on a beautiful beach with crystal clear water and then relaxing as we waited the final hour for the boat, which turned up exactly on time.
