Fantastic views. Wonderful location. walking distance to a few tavernas ( take a torch to find your way back to the villa in the evenings) and a 15 minute drive to Fiskardo.

“Words are not enough.”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We'd driven up to the villa from a few days' stay at a hotel just north of Argostoli. As we approached the village of Vassilikades, a few kilometres south of Fiskardo, I recognised Villa Fantasia on the western edge of the built area and with the aid of a print-out of the Google map, we found our destination.
Arriving in sunshine, (did I say "sunshine"? Kephalonia is lit by the radiant smile of Apollo!) the villa was easy to spot, but I would imagine that in darkness, the task would be harder.
Basically, heading North, take the only left turn there is in the village, up a narrow road. Turn right at the top and then left past the old ruined church. Villa Fantasia is about 200 metres along on the right.
Our children had flown out separately to join us and as we awaited their arrival in the village taverna, we diverted ourselves with a welcome glass of ice-cold Mythos lager.

When all were assembled, we went to the villa itself.
As the cars came to a halt at the bottom of the sloping drive, we tumbled out and the air was filled with "OMG!" "Wow!" "Stunning!" and my own smiling speechlessness as I reflected on the superb choice my wife, Debbie, had made in booking this base for our Kefalonian/Cephalonian/Kephalinian (take your pick) adventure.
As first time visitors to Greece in general and Kefalonia in particular we had already spent a couple of days driving, slack-jawed at the beautiful blues and hues of the island, but nothing had prepared us for the prospect of waking each day to the perfect vista we now beheld.
Reluctantly turning our gaze from the Ionian Sea to the interior of the house we met with the lovely Maria, one of Spyridon's family. She dealt with the formalities and gave us a brief tour of the house, the Wi-Fi access code and the keys, which included the blipper for the electric gates.

With bedrooms duly allocated, it was time to think about food, so whilst the rest unpacked their swimming gear, I scoped out the kitchen. A good-sized fridge with a smallish freezer (plenty of room though for fish, ice cubes and Ouzo!), a dishwasher - dishwasher soapy stuff not provided - a standard domestic electric hob and convection oven, something called a "micro -wave" (not sure what that does), kettle, electric food chopper and a sandwich toaster together with the usual pots and pans, oh and, unusually, a couple of very sharp knives, represent a well-equipped holiday kitchen. A colander or strainer would be a useful addition to the batterie de cuisine, but otherwise little to complain about.

Each room has aircon and the three bedrooms on the upper floor open out onto a balcony facing the sea, which is viewed over a kilometre and a half of woodland. Words can't describe the view. You just have to see it.

If I have any criticisms, they are these: unless we messed it up or didn't know how it worked, there were very few channels of TV available (it would have been quite nice to have a bit of a catch up with world events at the end of the day) and I don't know if an infinity pool would have added to the swimmers' enjoyment, but I'd like to have seen the view from one.

So, to dinner on the verandah, bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun as Erebus prepares to envelop the world in his cloak of darkness. And what darkness! Because the villa is located right on the edge of the village and there is so little light pollution, the stars are amazing, so for romantics or amateur astronomers, really something to see.

On the Sunday, we were presented with a Kefalonian meat pie, a tasty variation on Sunday lunch and later in the week, Spyridon's mother, who lives next door and looks after the plants and flowers on the property, made us a gift of some freshly picked grapes from her own vineyard. Truly delicious!

Villa Fantasia is a great base for exploring Kefalonia, a beautiful island of friendly and generous people, but it's also a great place to spend the day relaxing by the pool. Go there. You'll love it.

“Amazing villa with Amazing views”

im a little late in writing this review, we stayed from the 27th june to the 11th july.

we stayed at this beautifull villa with our 3 grown up children & their partners.
Spyros (the owner) had kindly arranged a taxi to meet us at the airport, to take a few of us and we followed in our hire car, cost of taxi from the airport to the villa was 60 euros.
when we arrived at the villa and the electric gates opened i was stunned by the views, absolutley beautiful.
we were greeted by maria and shown around, and then she opened up the oven to show me a kefalonian meat pie that had been made for us along with fresh salad, bread and wine..... a very lovely welcome.
the villa itself is very spacious and very clean with good air-con,the kitchen has everything you need
the pool was a great size and there were plenty of sun beds and lots of room outside.
the location of this villa is perfect to me, there is nothing built in front of it, but you do have the family that live next door(behind)....i still think of the views from that villa, they were amazing, stunning sunsets as well.
you can walk from the villa down to the village, takes less than 10 mins.in the village you will find 2 local little shops that sell pretty much everything.the bigger shop also sells amazing ice-cream cakes & the whole green olives and anchovies that were sold by the till were gorgeous, we made several trips here to stock up.the shop keeper also runs the local taxi from here, it is a bit hit & miss as there is only 1 taxi.
There is a restaurant that you will pass on your way into the village called VEGERA, this was our favourite, very nice couple that run it.
The food was very good and the local wine was just as good.we found this place reasonable , 2 courses sometimes 3 with wine and beers was approx 20euros per person.
they have live music twice a week and that was always good fun, proper greek dancing and smashing of the plates.

Fiskardo was approx 15 mins drive from the villa, it was a lovely place to go for lunch or drinks and just sit and watch all the boats, very relaxing.
There are 2 supermarkets here also, go to the one near the taxi rank, it is much better and a little cheaper, we didnt find it to the end of our holiday, a lot more choice and a lot cleaner.

Assos is also a lovely place to visit and again approx 15 mins drive (oppisite direction to fiskardo) , our favourite beach was called emblessi, it is so pretty, again it is a pebble beach like most of them but it has shade from the trees and the pebbles are all white, this is just before you reach fiskardo on the left hand side by the hotel.Mrytos beach is stunning , however there is no shade, there are sunbeds with parasols but they are limited, worth a visit tho.

All in all this was a great holiday including the people, food , beaches and of course the weather .

I would definatley return here.
