We spent two weeks in Japan trying sushi restaurants everywhere from Tokyo to Hiroshima. We were fortunate to have a wonderful local couple take us to Uo Gashi during our time in Japan. It was easily the best sushi restaurant we visited during our stay and we tried several!
You will notice an American diner type of feel when you walk in the front door. It's clean, well lit, and bustling. You order at your table on an IPad touch screen and your food is delivered to you via an automated track/belt system that runs throughout the restaurant. The staff is very helpful if you have any trouble figuring out the system (it's not difficult). Food is prepared quickly. It was fun to watch your plate of sushi stop next to your table and then slide down a little ramp onto the table.
You will quickly realize that the food is the main attraction here. Anything and everything we tried (tuna, eel, salmon, whale, tempura, etc.) was simply wonderful. I can't imagine how the food quality could have been any better. Prices are very reasonable too!
It you need a fancy atmosphere this probably isn't your place. If you want some really great sushi at a good price, don't miss it.
