My girlfriend and I came out with Abel Tasman Canyoning (ATC) as a last-minute, impromptu trip on a day off from work. From our first contact over the phone, to our farewells at the end of a long day, the staff were exceptional. (In no particular order, sorry guys ;) 1 point each) Lana, who took our booking, was organised, polite and extremely helpful in getting this trip together for us. Adrian, Oscar and Jake were our guides, and made us feel like friends, not just customers.
We had an AWESOME day! The gear was nice and new and worked well, the food provided was satisfactory and the canyoning itself was just so much fun, we didn't want to stop. We ziplined, jumped, abseiled, slid and swam through the Torrent River canyon, and did it at a good pace. The water was cold at this time of year, but we still enjoyed it. There were 6 of us on the tour, and none of us had ever done it before, so we all learned together, but luckily for all of us, we were all of a good standard of fitness, so progress was efficient. I can imagine that with the smaller group sizes, the better. The only things that I would have preferred different were if there was even more canyoning (I know, but we just enjoyed it so much!) and a free shuttle available from Nelson (currently $15 each way, per person). I know that other Abel Tasman companies offer free shuttles from Nelson with their services, and with the fairly substantial price tags of these ATC tours, I think a free shuttle would have been nice, and would also assist the business in attracting more customers. All in all, this was a truly magnificent day out. We absolutely loved our induction into the world of canyoning, and will fondly remember this day out as a highlight of our time in New Zealand. We certainly look forward to doing it again in the future. Massive thanks again to the whole ATC and Aqua Taxi team, and all the best for the busy summer period!
