Wife and I planned a 2 day kayak 1 day walk trip on the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Upon our arrival to check in, we were duly advised by the team that weather for the 2nd day wasn't good for kayaking (we would have had rain and a head wind) and for our safety, we weren't to kayak. True enough, we had sporadic heavy downpours and strong wind the next day. We were SO thankful we weren't kayaking on the 2nd day. We found out that other fellow kayaking hut users had not been warned of the poor weather by other rental companies. I just thought, wow I'm so thankful that the people at Sea Kayak Company have put their client's safety as priority over earning another day's worth of rental money.
Full marks for them in other departments too - good communication, the guide gave us recommendations on where to stop for lunch and where to expect rougher waters, equipment was well maintained.More
