Had a great family day out with our four children kayaking from Onetahuti to Bark Bay. Following a water taxi transfer from Marahau our guide Lucas gave us a full safety briefing before we set off paddling to Tonga Island. Saw many seals on Tonga as we paddled around the entire island. Headed for Mosquito Bay for lunch (including chocolate bars!) which was welcomed by everyone. Spent time on the beach throwing a frisbee and enjoying the untouched nature of the place. Explored the rocks and creek with the kids before paddling the last leg to Bark Bay. Our guide Lucas was great - very informative and knowledgable, encouragement for all paddlers during the day, and at all times seemed totally relaxed despite our slow paddling. Caught the water taxi back to Marahau with the skipper providing plenty of thrills for our boys. Back on dry land with kayaks fastened on the trailer we met Paul, the owner, who provided the kids with a can of coke each and the adults a much devoured cold beer. All up a great day and well worth the trip. Thanks Lucas for taking our family for a memorable day at Abel Tasman.

We had the honourable Rohan managing our tour and it could not have been any better!
This is the second time I have used this company and the third time to Abel Tasman overall, all staff are friendly and polite on the phone and in person, their relaxed but professional attitude makes you feel instantly at ease and allows you to enjoy learning about the area whilst kayaking in a superb environment!
The lunches are SO good...one is at risk of eating too much and perhaps weighing down the kayak later!
Thank you for yet again another awesome time!

My partner and I took a trip yesterday for her 30th birthday and could not have enjoyed it more! Maybe it was the fact that we were the only 3 (including our guide) kayakers in all of the national park, the opportunity to kayak through exposed caves, a river, and an estuary, getting up close and personal with Little Blue Penguins, Fur Seals, and Cormorant, or maybe it was all of that together. Add to that, our guide Lucas, was fantastic! He was very energetic and personable, got to know who we are and shared about himself, making it a more personal trip not just a client/guide trip.

Though there are a few different companies out there, we were suggested the Sea Kayak Company by the Motueka I-Site and were not disappointed. The price may seem a bit steep, but don't worry, you will get your money's worth!

As a final note, the Abel Tasman Water Taxi was very personal and professional as well. Though they take the market as far as transportation goes, they provide a great service and even take the time to show you some of the local wildlife on the way to your destination.

All-in-all, this was a great company to book with and my partner could not have enjoyed her birthday any more... unless of course we could have coordinated dolphins preforming double-backflips over her kayak. Maybe next time.

Thank you very much for those kind words. We are very happy to hear that your partner thoroughly enjoyed your day and birthday.
Happy to hear that the wildlife cooperated for your and hopefully next time you are back we can work on those dolphins doing flips around the kayak for you :)

With 3 teenage children we had a fantastic trip- more than we expected and asked for. Maureen in the office organised everything, even our stay at the backpackers, a food parcel, the accomodation and return on foot. Kim was a superb guide and company, the camping, food, sights- all fantastic. It wasn't too physical, and the return trip walking was also awesome. Thank you so much.

Me and my wife used service of See Kayak Comany in March 2013. We decided to join "Tonga Island Marine Reserve - Onetahuti to Anchorage" trip. It lasted around 6 hours. Trip was excellent - we saw seals, one even swimming beneath our kayaks and traveled to some breathtaking places. Our guide, Lucas, was really great. He told us interesting stories about each place, explained how seals behave and introduced some facts about local traditions. In the end he came up with a great idea - we formed a sort of a boat from all kajaks, he brought up a sail and we were literally sailing for some time. At the end of the trip we were a little bit tired from paddling. If you don't want to get wet don't sit in front of a kayak. My wife did and she was sitting all day in a water what made her a bit uncomfortable. We enjoyed a lunch break at an isolated, beautiful beach. It was a great spot to have a swim too. The only disadvantages of the whole experience was that it's costly, we needed to rush a bit (long distance to cover) so there was no time just to sit and admire seals and finally we started at least 30 minutes late.

From organizational side everything was fine. I exchange dozens of emails with Maureen, who was patient and very informative. She provided me with some excellent tips, i.e. that I could leave my bags and camping equipment on a beach, go to start of my trek and collect my bag on the way back. I recommend this company a lot and unfortunately for our wallets it's worth joying a kajak trip in Abel Tasman Park.
