Description: The hut is located on the Mount Muggio slopes, in Alta Valsassina, in the Casargo county. The closest city is Lecco, located 40 km away. Breathtaking views on Lake Como and Lake Lugano; to the West Mount Rosa and Cervino, Monviso and the Alps; to the North and East the Bergamasque Prealps, from Mount Legnone to Pizzo dei Tre Signori; to the South Grignone and Valsassina. From the hut, you can enjoy many easy mountain trails. The structure, completely renovated in 2008, is owned by the Spazzadeschi family, who has lived in Giumello since 1987, owner also of the Capanna Vittoria refuge. Rooms are all with bathrooms and balconies overlooking the stunning view. Friendly family environment and delicious local cuisine with several traditional dishes. The structure offers an amazing open-air equipped terrace. In the attic, you can find wood and the 'Friendship room' full of memories of our journeys in Tibet, India, Patagonia. All this is at your disposal at only 1.30 hours from Milan.

Flavio and Lelle are just wonderful, accommodations were nice and clean and the food was like eating at home only better. Many good stories of Flavio's expeditions to Mt. Everest. Highly recommend you stop here if looking for peace and quiet and beautiful hiking and landscapes.

Shambala is accessible by car for people who don't want to hike into a rifugio. Especially good for people with children or people who just want to park and not drag their stuff around. We were greeted by the owner famous in this region for his mountaineering skills. He also climbed Everest hence the name Shambala.(I think). Super friendly gentle soul who goes out of his way to accommodate all his guests. The rooms are simple but very comfortable. Lots of hot water very clean great views but especially a mattress that is comfortable. After a long hike this is a very appreciated commodity. There are plenty of beautiful hikes and an ambience that you will remember for the rest of your life. I am not a huge fan of mountain food but the dinner we had there was out of this world! A great starter consisting of a tartar sausage thin beautiful strips of local salamis a little bowl of baby onions slightly grilled and marinated followed by plump raviolis in a creamy nut sauce, gnocchi with saffron sauce that was out of this world! Many wonderful local dishes with a personal greeting from the owner. We were shocked at how reasonable it all was. Overall an experience worth every minute!
