Shambala is accessible by car for people who don't want to hike into a rifugio. Especially good for people with children or people who just want to park and not drag their stuff around. We were greeted by the owner famous in this region for his mountaineering skills. He also climbed Everest hence the name Shambala.(I think). Super friendly gentle soul who goes out of his way to accommodate all his guests. The rooms are simple but very comfortable. Lots of hot water very clean great views but especially a mattress that is comfortable. After a long hike this is a very appreciated commodity. There are plenty of beautiful hikes and an ambience that you will remember for the rest of your life. I am not a huge fan of mountain food but the dinner we had there was out of this world! A great starter consisting of a tartar sausage thin beautiful strips of local salamis a little bowl of baby onions slightly grilled and marinated followed by plump raviolis in a creamy nut sauce, gnocchi with saffron sauce that was out of this world! Many wonderful local dishes with a personal greeting from the owner. We were shocked at how reasonable it all was. Overall an experience worth every minute!
