We had been looking forward to staying at this cottage for some time for a pre-Christmas family weekend. Unfortunately the weather was not co-operative and the A55 was closed due to overturned cars in the heavy snow and the Police advised us to return home. That was the weekend over. I realised that the cancellation policy would not reimburse us the total booking price and I did not expect that, but as we had not used any of the gas, electricity or water or led the owner to incur any other charges such as cleaning and laundry costs after the stay I expected some kind of token refund or an offer that we could use the property at another time. We had tried before we travelled to contact the owner because the advice was not to travel but we still did everything we could to get there but were risking our safety and those of other road users. The owner was not contactable by phone or email. It was very frustrating.
Holiday insurance does not cover such problems as a heavy fall of snow. If we had booked a hotel or B and B then they would have required a deposit which we would understandably have forfeited. But in this case the full amount has to be paid before visiting the property. We have booked self catering holiday accommodation on many occasions and never received such a lack of understanding and recognition of our plight. So I would not stay in this cotttage because if you do have problems you may not receive any sympathy and as was pointed out to me in my request for some kind of refund will be blamed for circumstances beyond my control. I could not control the heavy weekend of snow starting on 08 December.
I always get excited to go back to this cottage just love the cottage its so cosy and has everything we need and is in a fantastic area for exploring snowdonia. Its our fourth year and hope to be back next year!
This cottage was just simply perfect, coal fire and a magnificent view of Snowden, rooms were cosy and the kitchen well supplied with pots & pans, we ate in every evening after long days out, we climbed Snowden on the Llanberis Path which takes approx 3 hours and quite taxing for most but the easiest of routes. We had good weather not too wet or sunny and it helps to take refreshments although there is a cafe at the half way point doing light refreshments and toilet facilities. The views from the cottage are fantastic and can be seen from nearly all windows. We would love to stay again and see more of Wales.
Cottage is fantastic. Location is awesome. We walked Cwm Idwal, did the zip wire Velocity and went horse riding -all within easy reach of this location. Would absolutely recommend and hope to revisit sometime soon.
