a wonderful island ️ for holiday.
olhuveli is not a one island one resort . it's a three island one resort. two islands in operation. the third island is not open but ready . this island is famous for Diving and watersports. and snorkeling. if you can't swim please learn before you go to Maldives. underwater world is so nice . you can see turtles , sharks and many different types of fish. nothing dangerous. no snakes no monkeys. no poisonous things. they all wear masks in the island but the guests are not wearing. it's up to you.

Dear lessworries2021,

Thank you very much for your detailed review on tripadvisor about Sun Siyam Olhuveli.

We are very pleased to know that you loved the island its natural beauty and marine life. Indeed the Maldives is naturally self-isolated paradise, a very safe heaven. More than one thousand islands with powdery white sands and crystal clear lagoons that are fascinating unique destinations with the One Island, One Resort concept. Olhuveli we are lucky to be connected three islands in the same lagoon and this is linked with a walk way bridge.

We are so glad that you had a wonderful stay with us and we are all truly looking forward to welcoming you back in our resort for another great stay .

Yours sincerely.

We stayed there for 4 nights from Feb 22nd to 26th. The experience is good from the airport itself where they pick you up from their counter and the speed boat journey is about 45 minutes and very pleasant. Once at the resort, you are greeted by a band of local musicians and they welcome you with garlands and a welcome drink at the Dive Centre which doubles up as official Jetty. There are managers that welcome you there and AFEEF is particular is one amazing guy who will know all your names prior to your arrival and has a knack of remembering all names. This gives a great personal touch. After a brief intro session in the wonderful open air lounge and sand bar, we were escorted to our rooms after the lunch. We were in Grand Beach Villa the first two nights. What can I say about the room !!! Its immaculately spick and span, so-well designed and with great access to the beach. It was very spacious even for a family if 4 - they had a king bed, a day bed and an extra bed and still plenty of room. There is a closet area with plenty of rack space for large families and space to stow away your suitcases and make space. The bathroom needs a special mention - its the most amazing bathroom we have come across - maybe a couple of resorts in Kerala come close - it has a big bath tub, two showers, one indoor and one outdoor, a big day bed under a gazebo....simply a great space where you can spend your night counting the stars in the open, in a bathtub or lying around reading on that beautiful bed. Too bad we had only 2 days to enjoy this :( Then the rear balcony that leads into the beach - a great day bed there, a coffee table, a washing tap for washing off your sand - so thoughtfully done. The beach is very serene and at night under the moon, just simply sitting on the dedicated beach benches for each room - is simply magical !!!! So 5/5/ for the Grand Beach Villa

The next 2 nights we were moved to Grand Water Villa with Pool - 726. If there is a choice please ask for this wing of Water villas - simply breathtaking !!! This room is a few notches above the wonderful GB villa described above. And I rate if 10 out of 5 :) The room is so spacious, so modernly designed and a lavishly designed bathroom enough for the bug family of 4. And the backyard area with personal plunge pool is a HEAVEN !! Looking out the turquoise green lagoon right underneath and the sound of the crashing waves a few 100 meters away at the confluence of the lagoon and the ocean, just simply magical. And the ladder next to the pool leads into the lagoon where you get to see such a wonderful species of fish - rainbow fish, string rays, Manta rays, reef sharks (small to medium ones, the innocuous kind) and a bunch of other colourful fish which flock the area right underneath that deck of the room, where there is a light that stands as a attraction for these marine creatures. I think 2 nights would be grossly underutilising this heaven - I recommend at least 4 nights here. And right across the end of this water villa row, there is a gallery kind of area where you can watch the open ocean and the great waves that bring up so many species of fish.

Overall Resort: Everything is so beautifully and tastefully designed on this resort island - multiple pools, restaurants, tennis courts, sand volleyball, multiple great beaches and above all the exemplary DIVE centre area which has the house reef next to it. We spent hours and hours snorkelling around the house reef, which hosts such a variety go corals and fish. This is ideal even for beginners - and advanced swimmers can go deep -there is something for everyone. They have a great set go diving instructors that can teach a 1 year old baby how to dive !!!

Additional entertainment : There are the usual jet ski trips, canoe trips for a minimal cost, and a variety of private tours to choose from. The recreation centre over there has some amazing guys in there to guide you through a series of recreational acivities if you choose to. Seriously speaking, you dont need anything else than the resort itself, but just in case you have a bunch of curious and restless kids like we did, it helps to plan some open sea trips. We had a private fishing trip with Raphan and team and boy, was that wonderful or what ??? Its a 2.5 hour trip and they take you to a good reef where there are plenty of fish, anchor there on a reef and then they teach you some basics and leave you to fish - and it was such a rewarding experience to catch fish in ocean. They made sure even my 9 year old learnt how to tackle, bait and he caught 4 fish by himself...and all the 4 of us had a gala time with this activity. Theys serve champagne and drinks on board (included) and they allow you to go to the open deck above to enjoy the sunset and the night stars. It was such a surreal experience lying down on the top deck open area gazing the stars after we we're done fishing and returning back. It doesnt end there - they make you select the biggest 2 fishes you caught and cook them for lunch or dinner the next day as per your preference - we had a Job fish, a sea bass and a red sniper I think for our lunch the next day at Sunset Restaurant - just the way we wanted it and with additional complimentary food from Raphan and team who added the local flavour to the fish. A huge thumbs up to Raphan and team for this wonderful experience !!! This is not to be missed !!!

The second trip we did was the Dolphin watching trip via speedboat. Its an hour round trip and we did hit pretty big school of dolphins at a nearby reef and kids has great fun watching them. Since the school was not in 100s of dolphins, we were not allowed to swim with the dolphins, so as to not disrupt their routine. Made sense.

Food: This is one reason I have given only4 stars to this place. The selection is a little monotonous for guys on Full-board plan. They have a

1. Salad bar
2. A bread and pan area where they make French fries, sandwiches, occasionally rotis, Dosas etc (for breakfast only)
3. A pasta bar with very little imagination and innovation
4. A grill area where they alternate between different meats every day - my biggest complaint on this one is the totally bland food dished out here...they could do with some choice there to spice up the grill food if someone chooses to
5. a desert bar with a fruit salad station next to it

The food was never stale, always fresh, but it became monotonous even for 4 days - wish they had a pizza station, a drinks station for lunch and dinner thats included with full board ( not even water is included with full-board), and for a resort with so many south asian flocking, there is very little selection for Asian food in general. And the vegetarian fare dished out for the Indian vegetarians ( we are not) is pretty ordinary for a resort of that standard. Steam rice and Dal cannot possibly be classified as "holiday food". So, some work needs to be done to spice up the food.

All in all, a highly recommended resort for a perfect family trip in the times of covid. All safety measures adequately followed.

TIP:
If you are an Indian travelling to Maldives, you need a covid test to be undertaken in last 72 hours before departure ti Maldives and another while coming back - these are mandatory. The test at the resort costs 175 USD - so be aware. There are some clinics in Male which do it for 70 USD if you have a day ti spare before boarding the flight out of Maldives. WE stayed in Male for a night before and after Sun Siyam and it really helped. We saved 420 USD for covid test costs this way. The clinics in Male typically take 10 hours for the results.

Olhuveli is my favourite island in the Maldives. I have visited all sunsiyam resorts, all of them are Unique.
Its easier and convenient for us at Olhuveli as the island is closer to the Airport.on Olhuveli THERE are many facilities. Many type of rooms many restaurants and bars. Disco music and DJ plays in the night time. Mantas are at the jetty almost every night.

We had a wonderful time on Olhuveli Island. . The island is stunning but what makes it unique is the team members, very welcoming and always ready to assist.

The island is big, rooms are all around the two islands in the water and beach front. If your rooms are on Main Island you don’t need a buggy service. The furthest room is just a few minutes away from the main area; reception and restaurants. If your room is on Dream Island you need to travel back and forth by buggy, there are buggy services every 30 minutes.

Their main pool on two islands, the best pool is the infinity pool which is only for adults. This is also located on the sunset side with a Bar. Sunrise pool and Dream pool area is great for families

The F&B outlets are great, for all inclusive meals, breakfast lunch and dinner are provided at SUNSET Restaurant ,for Indian food lovers, they have a Restaurant call NAMASTE, for THAI food there is over water restaurant SIYAM ORCHID and for SEAFOOD and STEAKS there is a restaurant call Maghreb. Pizza and some fast food they have ISLAND PIZZA. All the restaurants are in operation except Malaafaiy. Even during Covid they are doing a good job of serving an extensive selection whilst keeping everyone safe.

Lots of outdoor activities, Paint shop, gift shop, jewelry shop, kids Club, Medical center with in-house Doctor and many land sports and watersports with diving. A nice safe house reef is located in front of Dive center where you can snorkel easily with rich marine life. This island is highly recommended for families and as well as couples which suitable ad serves both needs extremely well.

I visited with my partner for a day visit to the island and it left us wanting to stay there for the duration of our stay. We will visit in the future.

The island is beautiful. It is quite large in comparison to some of the other islands so there is a lot to do. There’s a regular shuttle to take you around the island or you can walk it (though I would recommend the shuttle as it’s so hot to walk it).

There is an adult only pool which was the most amazing infinity pool on the beach.
The bar itself has a range of drinks and snacks and the staff are extremely friendly. The sun beds are comfortable and fresh towels are offered.

There’s also another pool on the other side of the island that isn’t adults only. The bar is equally brilliant with friendly staff, though our favoured view was at the other pool. This one overlooks the sea but also the water villas and there are bushes/trees that obstruct your view.

The buffet lunch service was excellent with a highly staffed restaurant, vast range of food and flowing drinks to order (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

Snorkelling here is amazing, with a range of aquatic life booming as soon as you get in the water. Diving is also offered and the instructors looked very supportive with the people they were working with.

Whether you decide to stay here or visit for a day I would highly recommend it.
