“Peaceful location for family reunion in Countryside”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago for a stay in August 2018

We booked this lovely barn for our family reunion. We stayed here and were very comfortable. The house was clean and easy to manage. The kitchen was very good for cooking meals, and the table was lovely and large! The surroundings were very quiet and serene with beautiful big skies and fields all around. The standard of finishings (beds, sofas etc) was very comfortable. It was very useful to have the laundry facilities. The younger members enjoyed the playground, the grass (with balls etc provided), the chicken coop. There were bikes and scooters as well. Although there are rental units on either side of the Barley Barn, we never heard our neighbours suggesting very good insulation!
There was easy access to a lot of places – Colchester, Tiptree (loved the cream teas!), Maldon.

“Lovely barn conversion”
Reviewed 24 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Lovely relaxing weekend at Barley Barn with family. This place is decorated and furnished to a high spec. It is well equipped in a quiet location but within easy walking distance to a local pub for Sunday lunch.
Surrounding open fields looked amazing on a very frosty weekend and the log burner made it very cosy on the coldest weekend of the year.
Owners very helpful even supplying some newly laid eggs from their chickens. I would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and hope to return.

“A home-from-home, surrounded by tea shops and country walks”
Reviewed 10 September 2015 for a stay in February 2015

The Barley Barn was a wonderful home-away-from-home for the week that we spent here. The house is well-equipped and furnished, warm (even without the log fire) and within easy driving distance of nearby towns and supermarkets.

The living room has a beautiful view of the surrounding area including sunrise and sunset, birds in the fields and hedgerows, plenty of walks and cycle paths nearby.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and if you like tea shops you're in luck: Tiptree is just down the road.

“Retreat”
Reviewed 29 May 2015 for a stay in September 2014

Barley Barn is a home from home with everything you need to have a lovely peaceful retreat away from the rat race. It is in a quiet location with open fields all around but yet close enough to local shops, pubs & towns if you venture out. Maldon is not too far away & is a lovely small town.

Carmen & husband are lovely, friendly & helpful.

We have booked again for August 2015 . Not long to wait.

“Brilliant holiday let!”
Reviewed 29 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Myself and extended family stayed here for 3 days and it was fantastic! A really quiet location but not too far from civilization.
The accommodation itself is excellent, very comfortable and plenty of space in all areas including the 3 bedrooms (each with an en-suite).

Liked best: The wood burning fire was the icing on the cake for us!
Liked least: The electric cooker which was a bit hi-tech for us and there were no instructions for its operation.
