Review of Luz De Oriente
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Nov 2017via mobile
Pros : very nice views, good food, breakfast included, good location, friendly staff

Cons: if you eat they add a service charge automatically, very basic facilities (not entirely clean), bathroom light didn’t work, wifi very bad

As a group of budget backpackers we didn’t particularly care about all of the above, especially straight after the San Blas tour as we had spent a few nights in hammocks with no showers but if you want somewhere nice spend more money and go elsewhere

This nicely located hotel has a nice view over the beach and harbour. Comfortable room. No mosquito nets though it's needed.
The staff was friendly but rather incompetent. Reservations are not correctly communicated to all of the members (what? You have a reservation?). At the breakfast (which is OK, not more), one needs to repeat it's order 3 times and the getting the wrong thing after all... sigh.
But good souvenir because the view was amazing!

Stayed here after a San Blas adventure trip.
Convenient location across from the dock. I stayed in a small dorm room with one bunk bed and a double bed. The shower does not have hot water and pressure isn't great but it was fine. Wifi didn't work for most of the time we were there (2 days). Beds were comfortable. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Electricity goes out in the town every night at 2am so fan stops working (AND IT IS HOT). Would be great if they had a generator.

Located right at the water and you can easily see it when you get off the boat. Our room was on the side turning to the water and the room had a little balcony with a hammock. Nice touch!
The hotel is a one minute walk from the beach. The rooms are a bit pricey but still worth it. The food is nothing spectacular but the bar has fair prices. The staff is really helpful and it is possible to exchange money in the reception.
The hotel is know for accommodate groups who have been to the San Blas Islands, so they will take up a great amount of beds. Just a heads up!

I stayed at Luz de Oriente after my San Blas Adventures tour. It's located right in the centre between the town and the beach and next to the boats so it's a perfect location and great meeting point. The staff only spoke Spanish and I had to stay a little longer by myself but they were so friendly with me I never felt lonely and felt looked after. The rooms are clean and such good value for money! It's not a place for meeting other travellers but La Bohemia is and the guy is so friendly that you can visit them if you're feeling lonely. Gracias a todos!

I arrived on the transfer from Turbo (not a bad trip) with nowhere booked to stay. Luz de Oriente is near the port so I took a room there with a view to moving on if necessary. In the event a move was not called for. The room's first attraction its wonderful view across the port and out to sea endured and I found no reason to find fault with any of the services. The room had two fans although, of course these do not work when the power is cut. When I stayed the breeze from the open balcony door was enough to keep the room comfortable although this might not be the case at other times of the year. The staff were friendly and helpful even refunding an overpayment I had made without being aware of it. It claims to have wi fi but I had no luck with it working. Capurgana however is not the sort of place you go to to spend time on line

Room tip: Try an get one in the front
