We really lucked out finding this place, it is rustic but very well cared for with lots of hard working staff. I am almost loathe to tell everyone how great as it was a special hideaway from it all. It is far enough away from Capurgana pueblo to be away from noise and bustle, but close enough to pop to for any additional supplies you might require. The pool is a lovely addition and it was perfect for days when the sea was rough. The food was so good that guests from other hotels came to eat there and more than one said to me that it was the best food they had eaten in Colombia (although i;m not sure where else they had travelled!). The service is great and friendly and everyone mingles and chats over dinner and a beer, we met some fascinating people from all over Colombia and the world . The rooms are cleaned every day and I love the fact that they put coffee out from 7am and guests could help themselves to mugs of it. Little touches like this made our stay one I will always remember fondly. Thank you Nora and team!

My wife and I just stayed 4 nights here and had a lovely visit. The place is 'rustic', open palapa/bungalow type. The hostess Nora was the greatest spirit, very helpful, and generous with all aspects of her care. The staff/caretaking family was friendly and the town pleasant. The food was better than anything we've found on the coast of Ecuador where we had been traveling the previous 3 weeks. The only drawback was the tiny (invisible?) mosquitos that bit us relentlessly around sunset and in the evenings. There is a flimsy mosquito net hanging above the bed but it really needs to be updated to a rectangular one that covers the whole bed well instead of the small round one that always pulls up from the corners. We flew from Medellin to Acandia (about $75USD each) then took a lancha (motor boat) that was 'jaw-breaking' bouncy, really works the spine and hurts the butt, the saving grace is that it is only an hour as opposed to the 2.5 hour ride from Turbo that is supposed to be equally as shattering. To leave we found out about a larger boat to Necocli (an hour long), the driver was excellent and the boat a lot better. Would like to investigate Necocli some other time, seems like tourism is just beginning there with this new boat service. So, Capurgana is worth a visit and I would recommend Nora's Eco Hostel, just bring good - high DEET - bug spray for the evenings. Make sure to visit La Cielo waterfalls and hike up past the first pool to the nicer second and third pools.

What a great place to spend a week on the northern Colombian coast. Great rooms, amazing balcony and delicious meals. With a private beach and a pool on the side of the ocean it could not be beat. Next time I am in Capurgana I would not hesitate to stay here again. Owner is very friendly and is always available to answer questions and to help set up transportation needs.
