This place is marketed as a more upscale hotel offering various packages (including all inclusive). We wanted to splurge and spend our last few days in one of their private cabanas, but it was totally not worth what we paid for it. There are far better places closer to the beach that we regret not choosing instead. This place is about a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Staff: The staff we liked. There were three or four people we interacted with that were all nice enough. The housekeeper was amazing. Anytime we needed something- regardless of it being housekeeping related- it seemed to fall to her.
The proprietors were seriously lazy. My partner and I wanted to take advantage of the pool on one of the days that we stayed there, but it was full of bugs. There was a pool cleaning tool just sitting out, so my partner decided to clean it up a bit so I didn't have to swim with a million dead bugs. The owner came by and said he was waiting for the sun to go down a bit to clean it, and instead of taking the tool and doing it himself he walked back to the shade where he rested.
Amenities: they have free wifi for guests in the dining room only. Wifi is scarce in the town, and even good wifi only allows you do do certain things. For example: you can get on whats app, Facebook, and email easily but you may not be able to surf or download easily. Yet, it's still probably the best wifi you can get in town. There's a murky looking pool, a ping pong table and tv area. There's also a small sauna in the pool area that you can use for a max of 1-2 hours. You can rent bikes from them and there was a sign for spa but I'm not sure there was anyone there. We initially Decided on having breakfast included which was an addition 20000COP per person, but after the first day we canceled. It was way too expensive for what you get. We had eggs, 2 bunellos, 1 arepa, and a coffee, and was seriously meh...It was basically bread and eggs. The next day went to the local bakery and had breakfast for two with coffee for 3000 COP total.
Room: The Cabana is cute if you look at the big picture. The main issue this place has is their lack of attention to detail. Each cabana has a hammock, but our hammock was badly ripped. The beds are made up well, but the mattress was TERRIBLE! I've never had such a bad nights sleep. The whole thing just dipped down to the center and filled your back with springs. The bathrooms were clean enough for a $25 hotel, but for an $85 a night hotel I expected much more. They have these old Kimberly Clark toilet paper dispensers that are old and yellowish and reminiscent of a Target bathroom stall. They have messages on the door advising to keep the bathroom door closed, but the bathroom door in our cabana had a huge gap in it (at the top) when the door was completely closed. Therefore, bugs got in! Again not a huge deal for a $25 hotel, but super big deal when it's one of the most expensive places in the town.
On the day we were to leave, our bathroom door was accidentally locked. It was one of those push in locks, so it's easy to accidentally push it in. No big deal right? Actually super big deal because they didn't have the key to the door! Why would you even have a lock on a door that you don't have a key to? The housekeeper and about three other people had to try to come and wiggle it open with wires, knives, etc. my partner finally was able to open it with a credit card. The ordeal took more than an hour.
Don't risk being annoyed on your vacation! Just stay somewhere else!
