This was our second time back to this hotel as we really enjoyed the laid back non touristy feel to this little town and hotel. We requested a sea view room which was lovely as last stay we were in the annexe part of the hotel which is a street back from the seafront and didn't have much of a view. Again, the room was clean, serviced everyday and the owners approachable, accommodating and chilled out. Only downside is that it was hot and the sea front is noisy so if you are after an early nights sleep, it's difficult in the heat with the doors shut. There was a small fan but not much else the hotel can do about could do about the noise or heat! Certainly quieter round the back but you sacrifice the view. Some fuller firmer pillows wouldn't go astray either. Besides that, it was lovely and we will be back, again.

Cerbere is Just on the French side of the French Spanish border. If you want great food, a great welcome, and a unique character hotel this is for you. Right on the seafront and in the centre of Cerbere it looks directly onto of the bay with the swimming beach just 100 metres away. You can sit and chill all day under the shade of awnings and soak up the atmosphere of this relatively quiet but very pretty little bay port as you watch the world go by.
Classical music plays, interesting pictures hang on walls and you are looked after with charm and humour. Good seafood menu too.

Room Tip: We were a group of cyclists so we were in the annex which is on a back street about 200 metres from the main hotel - it was perfect for us. Quiet, very reasonably priced etc. The main hotel has rooms too - not sure how quiet these would be as they look out over the bay, also not sure of the facilities in the main hotel

Wonderful little two star with an excellent bar and restaurant. Spacious ,clean and comfortable room with a view over beach and harbour. Owner Yves and his wife and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a quiet but interesting spot when the rest of France is busy this is it.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Cerbere is a dream of a place, small, quiet, friendly with good amenities. One of the best things about Cerbere is the Hotel La Dorade. We have stayed there twice now in a room with a sea view above the restaurant. Despite this it was very quiet and we had no disturbance at all.
The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Breakfast is served downstairs in the cafe-bar and it is a wonderful way to start the day in a fantastic location opposite the beach and marina. Our room, which was in the building on the seafront with a double balcony, was basic but clean and spacious. We had a wonderful view of sunrise over the Mediterranean. The hotel has an excellent seafood restaurant with a wide variety of excellent dishes, not just seafood. The bar is also a very nice place to sit and relax with a beer after a long day exploring.

Cerbere is a great base from which to explore Catalonia, with the Hotel La Dorade only a few minutes walk from the international train station. From where you can catch trains to Perpignan in about 30 minutes. Port Bou in Spain is about 4 minutes by train from where you can catch trains to Girona, Figueres and Barcelona.

We arrived at the Hotel La Dorade in Cerbere after a hectic stay in Barcelona -- what a delightful relief! Our room was comfortable and quiet, with a great view of the little harbor and sea beyond. The restaurant has a good menu and the food was delicious. The hotel hosts and staff were professionally efficient yet warm and personable. Yves made suggestions (and even drew a map) for a beautiful walk amid the vineyards, while Anne found the time to help us with World Cup viewing. We absolutely recommend this wonderful place, and plan to return ourselves.
