Called in at the last minute and had a lovely afternoon. Dog-friendly location and started with a light lunch in the cafe. The parsnip curry soup was really lovely. Next, it was a hike up to the falls just be aware it is a very natural walk and not for those impeded in any way, however, there is a flat walk around the lakes you can go on also.
After our walk, it was back to the cafe to replenish our energy with coffee and cake. We both enjoyed the visit

We went to the Falls after lunch and needed all afternoon and strong shoes, to climb up to the top and also see the victorian ferns in a valley next to the falls. Don't miss where the falls were increased in height to make work for ex miners and provide a leat for fresh water for locals in the valley.
The lunch menu looked very interesting - particularly the specials. We had a cream tea when we came down and it was delicious.

We stumbled upon the Canonteign Falls, after the Becky Falls car park was completely full and we left in disgust and went exploring. It's a gorgeous place that we will re-visit. The walk up to the falls was energetic and rewarding and the falls themselves spectacular, constructed when Silver was mined here 200 years ago. We stopped for our sandwiches and a drink at the fern garden and made a dam. The little "leat" and bridge at the top was good for a game of pooh-sticks, the kids absoluterly loved the outing. There are beautiful lakes and gardens and a play area, excellent café and gift shop. It's a family venture, a labour of love, well worth supporting. Masses of space and a great day out.

Lovely waterfalls well worth a visit we stopped here on our way home after a family holiday with our dog and 12 week old daughter.
The waterfalls are beautiful and a lovely walk to the top with stunning views.
We stopped at the cafe afterwards and had coffee and cream tea - the food was lovely the menu for lunch sounded delicious unfortunately we had just eaten so just had scones and cake which were lovely my husband had coffee and walnut cake and I had the cinnamon and white chocolate scones which were exceptional
We got chatting to the owner who was a very friendly lovely lady.
Would def recommend visiting if your in the area.

On a miserable rainy day in April, a waterfall in Devon (highest in England) is just the place to visit and we were NOT disappointed. We were too wet to complete the walk but plan to return.
THE HIGHLIGHT: The CAFE! We had planned a picnic with friends but the weather was just too awful. Hot chocolate and herbal tea cheered us up - and then (hallelujah!) the cafe staff let us eat our picnic undercover - warm and comfortable. Such kindness and all the staff both in the shop and in the cafe were charming, welcoming and helpful.
