Such a stunning place to visit. Beautiful beaches, bays and native Bush. Oban is a tiny quaint village in the sheltered bay of Half Moon bay. Beautiful location with a pub, supermarket, cafe and tourist shops. Rental cars, bikes, and bus trips available. Some tourists choose to walk but there is kilometres of roads and bush walks to explore. You can make this a day trip but should you want to stay book your accommodation ahead - this is a tourist destination.

We had a great experience - our crossing was good. It can be rough so be prepared with sea sick tablets prior to trip if you do not have Sea legs. Check ferry times on the web. They run on time and was efficient. Paid and free parking available at Bluff at the Terminal. One bag checked on allowance and one small carry on for free. On our trip there was a dinghy and bikes. Coffee and tea available for purchase. A one hour trip.

We were picked up from our hotel at 7.25 by minibus and taken to the coach pick up point for our departure to Milford Sound. The driver was very good and kept us informed with lots of facts about the areas we were passing through. It was a beautiful sunny morning and a lovely drive with lots of lovely scenery. Our first stop after 2 hours on the coach was at the town of Te Anau where we had 30 minutes which gave us time to have something to eat as we had not had breakfast. After Te Anau we had a couple of short stops for photo opportunities. Then about an hour away from Milford Sound the weather clouded over and it started to rain a little. By the time we arrived at Milford the weather had really closed in and it was very misty. Then soon after we set off on the 2 hour cruise along the fiord it started to rain really heavily so we did not really see very much. Annoyingly the weather improved on the journey back and after we left Te Anau again it was a beautiful sunny evening. We got back to our hotel at around 8.30 and although it was a long day with very little to see I would still recommend going as on a good day I am sure it is spectacular.

Kia Ora Patricia and thanks for taking the time to post this review. We're pleased to see you enjoyed your day trip to Milford Sound with us. It's a shame to see that the weather wasn't in your favour whilst on the actual cruise. The weather in Milford Sound is extremely changeable however we feel that Milford is at is best in heavy rain as there is thousands of waterfalls that cascade off the surrounding cliffs into the sea.
Kind regards, the team at Real Journeys.

Travel on 25 March 18 and came back on the 27 March. Booked the package deal, shuttle from the IVC Airport return at a cost $380.00 for two people and received a discount for a return trip. Really well organised check in but pre booked tickets on realjourneys.com. Smooth sailing that took 1 hour. Comp coffee and outside area to view the scenery - well recommended.

First time to see kiwi and they are so adorable. Maybe it’s a bit expensive but you also get lots of information from the trip. Highly recommend!!
