This is not at all a new establishment but is has been wonderfully maintained.
Everything is bright, fresh and clean.
The grounds are immaculate.
I felt like I had been transported back to the 1950/60s.
Wifi worked well and the beds were, comfortable.
VERY good value !

We just checked out this morning and are very satisfied; if you're going to Hobbiton and want to stay in the area just book here. It's about $70 ($73/night in March 2017) a night for two twin beds, a king bed with dual-heated mattresses (each half has separate control), fantastic air conditioning, a furnished kitchen, and a spacious bathroom with a separated toilet and great water pressure/temperature. (Unit 7) The units were VERY clean and despite some doubts when I saw a supplied can of raid in the kitchen bugs weren't an issue. I could go on about other pieces like the padded carpet and such but I'd be writing a book. Bottom line: they could charge $100USD/night and it'd be better value than many hotels. You won't be disappointed in your stay here.

My family and I stayed in the stand-alone suite one night and then two one bedroom rooms the following night due to availability. We had a very easy time settling in and the both types of rooms were clean, tidy and spacious. There were dishes available to use which was very convenient. The beds were comfortable and it was nice to have a sitting area available outside of our rooms as well. The bathrooms were sectioned off so that the toilet could be closed off separate from the shower, which could also be closed off from the sink area which could also be closed off from the main living area. This allowed us to do our teeth and other nightly routines while someone used the facilities. The staff was very nice and we had no complaints. Excellent place to stay!

We stayed here last night following our hobbiton tour. Due to some storms slowing us down we got there later than expected and we're checked in with zero fuss given the key and pass code and left to get ready for our tour. Very polite and great service.

The room was comfortable and well kept with a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge - there is one sink to share for bathroom and kitchen and it was set quite low. Great do kids to do teeth not so great for my tall husband but still manageable. The shower also has a strange tap with areas for cold warm and hot. I bathe in water like lava and I still didn't get out of the cold section so just be aware of that before getting in.

The room was large enough to comfortably take our port a cot and quiet enough even with torrential storms sweeping through.

I would recommend this as a place to stay when visiting matamata.

Hello to all the family, yes it was a little wet and windy for your Hobbiton tour which was a shame, I'm not sure what you mean about the cold water as I have tested this today an it seems fine so sorry about this. All the best for the rest of your holiday. Regards Karen

First night of my New Zealand tour, perfect. Very warm welcome, very convenient room and within walking distance of the Hobbiton Bus. We went to the Wednesday Feast there. Just out of town enough to make our onward journey next morning very easy.
