Went to the private pool-Ramaroa?- when I first went through the door I was a little disappointed as it looked very "rustic"- but on closer inspection it is clean and very private. Ive visited Polynesian spa and a couple of others but my husband and I both agreed this is our favourite so far. If this were updated just a little it would be hard to beat. I would fix the seating so it didnt wobble, clean the roof, and put a screen on each cubicle. Just clad the concrete blocks with maybe a little rock, and add seating right around the pool. open the outlet above the pool level so the river could be seen from the pool. None of this overly costly but just adds that bit extra for the customer- but it is a hidden gem as it is, We are definitely going back. And nearly forgot to mention- CHEAP AS CHIPS!

Stayed here for a night in one of the tourist flats. Very clean and tidy and very reasonable in price for the night. Didn’t get a chance to swim unfortunately but look forward to it next time we stay. Off the beaten track and not cell phone service so perfect for a relaxing time away from life. Definitely will be back.

Had a powered site here. Friendly welcoming staff. We went for a swim in the thermal pools here, very warm. Showers, toilets, laundry all fine. Thermal pools free if your staying in the park. Good value for money.

Picked Opal as it was only a few minutes from my family. Lovely setting, nice quiet motel room, enjoyed the private spa, but felt there is some work to do around. Indoor spa walls could do with a spruce up and made to feel fresh. Other wise enjoyed my stay.

We checked in late so didn't take advantage of the hot pools. Had a powered site for our campervan - $40 for two people. Nice location - mountain views and green. Lovely little kitchen and outside eating area. Very cosy wooden table outside spot, but did get attacked by a slug. Yes, attacked. Reception staff were good - helpful with directions for Hobbiton tour. Shower was good temperature, but not heaps of pressure.
