I love oversized things and this bottle is hilarious ! The cafe by it does food and got drinks etc and the bottles a great place to take photos !
The famous landmark is a very large bottle. Photograph the children beside it to show how big it is then go and buy a smaller bottle?
Worth the stop if passing through - good photo opportunity to see one of NZ's pride and joys!
On the main strip of the town.
What can I say? This is a truly remarkable landmark, and I was awestruck when I saw it. The whole tourist experience was exceptional. As we pulled up in the car park, we could not believe how big it was. It was only as we walked towards it, we realised it was actually even bigger.
It was only when we got right up close and personal with the bottle, that we realised how big it actually was - at least 6 times bigger than an actual bottle (at least!).
It is clearly 'off the beaten track' as we were the only tourists there - a true hidden gem!
What's more is that there was no admission fee, which made for a nice change considering a lot of the tourist activities in New Zealand are rather expensive.
Only downside is that you can't actually drink any of the L&P, but there are plenty of places in New Zealand where you can actually do this.
Look out for the lemon shaped bin, often missed by those who are not as hawk eyed as my friends and I.
Don't 'bottle' it on your New Zealand trip by missing out on this treat.
this is the small town where the famous "L&P" soda was invented - lovely little town with many neighbouring attractions
So this was the starting point of our big things tour of the North Island last week. It is a must see if you want to see what small town NZ does to promote itself.
