3 Star Only (at a stretch)

Review of Le Vasa Resort
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 weeks agovia mobile
Pros =
View
Location
Staff are wonderful but don’t get paid enough for the hard work expected.
Pretty fish outside room
Gardens
Free water activities, snorkels, flippers, kayaks, life jackets
Soft tissue massage is the best I ever had
Good shower pressure (but no hot water)

Cons =
3 star accommodation
Check in was delayed by over an hour, no compensation
Need upgrade and renovation
Nails sticking up on parts of the outside deck
Concrete footpaths need a lot of repair and decent lighting at night, unless you bring your own torchlight
Mould on shower walls shortly after check in
Massage table needs replacing, lady has to carry very heavy old table to rooms

Pool needs safe rails to hold onto going up and down stairs
Spa has not worked since before 2012 (as per other reviews)

Mosquitoes are quite bad in evenings & flies can be bad, need more fans over dining tables to blow away insects
Ants are a constant problem

Water sports hut is run down and broken, life jackets are left in storage room to get mould and rot, need to be dried out properly

Taxi service is considerably more expensive here compared to Apia
$50 one way to airport
Same distance in Apia is $20

Trip Advisor says free breakfast - not free
Wifi available but not free

Light switches are in very confusing for bathroom.

Power point did not work, electrican wanted to run a power cable across the floor instead of fixing the faulty access.

Pillows have concerning sweat stains and need to be replaced or at least washed and sanitary. So happy I brought my own pillow with me.

Room service is every 3-4 days but only after we asked for it.

We had a mixed experience at Le Vasa Resort. After arriving with a friend who was bumped from her flight, we offered her a ride since her pre-arranged transfer didn’t show up. The resort had mistakenly thought she’d arrive the following day, but they waived her $50 WST charge after we pushed that it wasn't her fault she wasn't on the original flight and she had rang ahead from NZ to inform them of the flight mishap.

Check-in was supposed to start from 2pm, but our rooms weren’t ready until after 3pm. We were asked to wait in our friend's room until ours was prepared, which was a bit inconvenient. It took 45 minutes of waiting before we realized our bungalow was ready but no one informed us.

The resort’s location is stunning, with beautiful views and a picturesque setting. However, our friend's overwater bungalow lacked privacy in the kitchenette area as there are no curtains when you are undressing to get into the shower (especially even more so at night, we went out to see for ourselves), and the hot water was unreliable. My partner and I stayed in a standard bungalow which was cute but would feel cramped for more than one night. The air conditioning was a plus, and we appreciated the good-quality towels.

The property itself is somewhat run-down, though maintenance work was ongoing. The decor felt disjointed, with European-style paintings and mismatched items overshadowing the lovely traditional Samoan carvings. More is less and it's a shame that the Samoan architectural designs and art pieces were swallowed up by all the other random bits and pieces around the place.

Service was hit or miss. While the waitresses were friendly, their training seemed lacking, leading to long wait times and confusion over price and payments. The Fijian bar manager was a standout, providing excellent service.

On a positive note, the dinner chefs delivered exceptional meals, and we commended them for their skill. The sunset views and ocean-side fales were lovely, though kayak usage was unclear, leading us to avoid them.

Check-out was smooth with a knowledgeable receptionist, contrasting with our check-in experience. Overall, while the stay had its highlights, it’s uncertain if we’d return soon or recommend to others.

Convenient location near the airport but the transfer is overpriced by the resort, coming in at 50 Tala per couple. No cheaper if there are 2 couples.
The restaurant and bar have a nice atmosphere and the outlook around the resort is nice. Food was enjoyable.
Our bungalow backed onto the resort carpark so we were woken a few times as cars arrived and left. The bungalow was budget standard despite the cost. There are screens on most of the windows but there are cracks in the floorboards. However we didn’t notice any mosquitoes inside.
During the day there was a fair amount of noise and smoke permeating from nearby houses. If you can get a bungalow located on the opposite side of the resort from the carpark it would be much more relaxing I’m sure.
Reception should remember they are the welcoming face of the resort and can make a lasting impression on guests before they even see the resort.

Room tip: Ask to be located away from the carpark. Very expensive for what you get.

Extremely disappointing for a hotel that makes out it's very high end...
The many other 1 star reviews sum it up, and the broken chairs with nails sticking our dangerous to kids but still left out.

The staff are so lovely doing their best under a terrible management who can't communicate with gets well at all when there's an issue...there's no nice beach or swimming place like the rest of samoa

We stayed in fales a 5th of the price for the rest of our holiday, with amazing food dinner and breakfast included. And incredible serviceable friendliness all which have 5 stars from me..so I'm not a moany customer just honest!

Booked online for the standard room
The photos on their website looked reasonable for the price

The reality when we saw the room was a let down as it was nothing like the photos

This is the original rooms that started off the resort

I believe they need to offer these rooms to their staff because it really isn’t rooms I would allow any guests to stay in

There are rats that hang around the outside shower and toilet

The room itself is old and tattered
Decor is aged and just thrown together

The mattress had bed bugs and when asked the staff to change the mattress they promised to exterminate the room

When we arrived back
To the room they had sprayed the room with fly spray
Very disappointing.

The restraunt are also disappointing as they are not capable of handling orders during a busy seating time under pressure

They make it obvious to guest they are struggling to cater for a full restraunt

Although welcoming and friendly seems Le Vasa has dropped the ball in their rooms and upkeep

2/10

We checked out because the standard room was very poor and the price to stay at Le Vasa is over inflated

Won’t be returning and won’t be recommending to family or friends

Regular to never again

Room tip: Avoid the standard rooms overpriced for a nasty surprise of run down room thrown together to hide the flaws

I (22yo) stayed at Le Vasa with my mother Jen (in 50s) in June. Over the course of our time here, we stayed in 3 different room types: a standard lagoon water fale, a superior oceanfront bungalow, and a standard room. All 3 rooms were beautifully decorated, comfortable, and were situated in excellent positions.

The highlight of our stay here however was the people. The staff working at Le Vasa are some of the most welcoming, funny, patient and kind people we have met. Nive, Mark, Eme, Peni, Phyllis, Asalele and Orietta (sorry about the spelling!) were all absolutely amazing (as were many more), and we feel very lucky to call many of the staff we met our new friends.

I discovered my new favourite meal here, Fai ai “Isaraelu” - a must try if you eat at the restaurant. Mum loved the meat options on the menu too, and the cocktails were devine (thank you Mark and Nive!)
The pool is clean, spacious and relaxing. The sunsets were stunning and we both had a lot of fun in the games room playing pool and table football.

We can also highly recommend their transfers if you are not driving your own vechile. Peni and another staff member, made us feel very safe and welcome upon our arrival to the airport late at night and settling us in to the resort. Asalele was also very accommodating in driving us to and from the ferry to Savaii.

Overall, we cannot recommend Le Vasa enough - the staff went over and above, the property was stunning and the restaurant was brilliant! You will feel safe, welcome and like you are in a slice of paradise!
