Gorgeous little resort.

Review of Le Vasa Resort
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Jul 2023via mobile
Gorgeous little resort with a real local feel. My husband and I stayed there for 2 night when we first arrived in Samoa. It’s very close to the airport so great for when you land in an evening. Had a lovely Samoan massage with a gorgeous view one of the mornings. Food was great although service at times could be slow but that didn’t really matter. Will stay again

Le Vasa was a strange place. Certainly, the location is great - near the ferry wharf to Savaii and Faleolo airport and also close to the Giant Clam sanctuary. The hotel itself is quite nice with a row of bungalows facing the harbor and several hotel rooms - we stayed in a nice room next to reception. The outdoor bar and restaurant was quite nice also; the bartender prepared lovely cocktails. Charlie and Antonio took us to the clam sanctuary, which was terrific. So: why not a higher rating? There is clearly strife between the staff and the owner and we could sense the tension. The staff were walking around on pins and needles. Unlike the many other places we stayed during our three weeks in Samoa, the owner never once came out to greet her guests or acknowledge us. In fact, she typically stayed hidden in the office (where we could hear constant arguing) or if she came out, sat at a table with her back to us where she castigated the staff in front of the guests. This atmosphere made for a very uncomfortable stay at Le Vasa. If this kind of thing doesn't bother you then consider a stay at Le Vasa. But if it does, there are plenty of other hotels on Upolu...

Sounds like you thought everything was NICE, you had a great stay, the staff took very good care of you, all of this is lead by the owners always striving for the team to give great service and create life long memories!, You had lovely cocktails, thought the location was great, environment was quite nice, nice room and a terrific tour. Sad to see the misinterpretation and judgemental comments. The team at Le Vasa Resort are a family, we always strive to do our best for the guests and give them a great experience in order to do this procedures must be followed and clear communication between staff and departments otherwise guests complain. Always doing our best to improve.

Le Vasa has beautiful grounds, the pool is nice, big and refreshing. We had a superior room and it was big enough for my family of 5. Soraya was very accommodating with helping me with my reservation and changes that happened due to a mishap with flight arrangements. thank you Soraya. We loved how the room was right over the ocean, so you walk out of your room to the view of the ocean and Savai'i island, breathtaking every morning. The shower had hot water with great water pressure. You just have to ask to turn the hot water on. There is a mini-fridge and small kitchenette.

The issue(s) we had was that there was no breakfast included, a lot of other resorts have breakfast included. But no meals or drinks were included on the price. The distance is nice from the airport but about an hour out from town. Lagoon was really muddy so we couldn't even access it. Also, I felt we were being a bit jipped on being charged for various fees. We had a family member visit us and brought us dinner, but because we couldn't all fit comfortably in our room, we sat by the beach on the tables and they charged us $150 tala. Because we brought outside food, they charged us. When they originally approached us about it, they told us $100 tala and when they came back, they said it would be $150.00 tala. We spent more than $150 on food and drinks for the whole stay, you would think they would waive that outside food fee. When I checked out, they double charged me $270 tala and an extra $100 tala for an airport transfer that we didn't even use. Both items, I wouldn't have known if I didn't ask them, they would've got away with those extra charges. If you are looking for exceeding customer service, you will not find it here. They will help you with what they have available but if you have any needs that they cannot provide, they pretty much just tell you to go find it in town. Not suggestions on where to go - and you have to be mindful, that you are not familiar with the area so you have no idea where you are going.
Customer service needs a lot of work. I had asked if there were any adapter plugs we could use for the night just to get us to the next day, and we were told "no, we are out". And that's pretty much all I got. No help on where to find them, nothing. And then she just started at me like, ok anything else?

Bottom line - it's a nice resort far away from anything if that is what you are looking for. If you don't want to use the restaurant, you will need to buy from town which is an hour away. And double check you check out bill and make sure you question all the charges, so they don't get you for any extra $370.00.

Thank you for saying Le Vasa has beautiful grounds, nice pool, big and refreshing. Large superior oceanfront bungalow room and Soraya was very accommodating with helping me with my reservation and changes that happened due to a mishap with flight arrangements. Sometimes communication is lost in translation and various people involved. When resorts have a restaurant and bar and they make an earning to support the staff in this department, it is not the norm for guests to bring their own food to the restaurant area and ask to use the restaurant plates and cutlery, guests still require staff service and clean up, its just a like cork fee when people bring their own drink to a restaurant that is NOT BYO and they sell wine. You had a large group of people and in all fairness the $100 or $150 WST you may have had to pay was fair considering the circumstances. Unfortunately if guests need adapters they really should bring them while traveling, the resort has some although if they are out with other guests there is not much we can do. Always doing our best to improve.

Fine for an overnight stay between islands as handily located but wouldn’t want to stay for my whole holiday. Room was clean. Bed not the comfiest, mattress very hard and thin. Booked the room with an external bathroom which was fine but again could have been made better had there been some soap and a hand towel in there. Also no hot water. Again they did say on the info that we could go and tell them if this was the case and they would change the batteries but maybe they could check it on the morning before new arrivals because once you’ve started having a shower it’s a bit of a faff to get out and go and find someone!?
As others have mentioned the food service is very slow and the food was hit and miss… some excellent some below par. Overall the stay was fine but given the price I would expect it to be a bit better.

Thank you for the review and advice, the staff are always doing their best to improve and create better experiences for guests. You booked a standard lagoon fale so VERY basic with no hot water and external bathroom as stated on the website, great for budget travelers or short stays. Restaurant and bar have definitely improved. Le Vasa resort is aiming for great!

We stayed for 5 nights after returning from Savaii.
Picked this resort for its proximity to the wharf, airport and Apia.
It isn't as large as some of the other resorts, which we liked too.
The rooms were very nice overlooking the water, with lots of palm trees.
Great pool and restaurant (huge mains), the staff as everywhere we found in Samona, really nice.
There are organised day trips available, but we did an island tour with our taxi driver from the airport, which is also a good option.
If there is no Fiafia night on, and you really want to go see one, the Sheraton beach resort runs one on Fridays.

Room tip: Only a very small beach when the tide is out. We took the local bus into Apia, but the return trip after 2-3pm ish was uncomfortably full.
