Fantastic Hosts and location. The most comfortable bed we have slept in and a beautiful view to wake up to. Don't pass up the opportunity to come stay in this slice of heaven, enjoy the wonderful breakfast, and soak in the atmosphere of this wonderful spot. The room was warm and toasty and just the spot to enjoy watching a stormy July afternoon. All the little touches like freshly ground coffee and homemade biscuits, preserves and fruit really made this a special retreat. Will definitely be back on our next NZ trip but will be booking for longer!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and go for the beach front

I unreservedly recommend this place to all couples looking for a romantic and peaceful get away. We wish we could have stayed for a lot longer. It was private, luxurious and everything was perfect. We will be back.

As soon as you turn into the driveway of “Adrift in Golden Bay” you get the feeling that this is something special: perfectly manicured lawns, immaculate tree-based windbreaks and then the view of the ocean. Gordon took our luggage to our beachfront cottage where we spent several minutes saying “wow” to each other as we looked at the sea, the beach and the distant hills. The B&B is perfectly situated for exploring the area with Collingwood and the Farewell Spit Eco Tour, Takaka and its colourful Saturday market, and the fascinating Te Waikoropupu Springs. Or just walk across the lawn, down a couple of steps and you can walk for hours along the beach – a great way to relax.
The spacious cottage, the luxurious bathroom, the daily breakfast basket and all the little extras made our stay really special. And as if that wasn’t enough, we saw a spectacular shooting star while stargazing on our patio!
Many thanks to Paul at “New Zealand in Depth” for advising us to enjoy the pleasures of Adrift in Golden Bay. Thoroughly recommendable.

My mother and I stayed at Adrift In Golden Bay for 3 nights. We knew it would be wonderful from reading about it- the beautiful scenery, the luxurious cottage, the beach access- but of course it was so much better than we had imagined.

Even though we arrived quite late in the evening, the owner was there to help us with our baggage, show us around the grounds, and answer any questions we had. Our requested breakfast was already in our cottage for the next morning. The cottage itself was so beautiful, warm, and cozy. My mom and I settled right in. We even borrowed 2 DVDs from the extensive collection available for Adrift guests.

While staying at Adrift we took advantage of the beachfront proximity, laundry facilities, and activity booking aid. The lovely town of Takaka (10-15 minutes drive) is quite close and there are small nature walks varying in difficulty scattered along the main road.

The owners, Bess and Gordon, were as wonderful as can be and made the stay quite amazing.

From the start to the finish of our stay here, we just had a wonderful time, our stay just wasn't long enough. The beachfront cottage has everything you could wish for. The location and views are stunning. The cottage itself has all home comforts and the bathroom is just incredible. The care and attention to detail and cleanliness is impeccable. We loved the breakfast basket of lovely home produced goodies. The thought that has been put into giving guests a wonderful holiday cannot be praised enough. If it were nearer to the UK we would be back tomorrow. It is impossible to give justice to how lovely this place is in the words written here. Thank you for lovely memories.
