Went there for lunch. The food quality was much better than we expected in a small isolate town in the northern part of the South Island. At lunch the prices are very reasonable and while the portion size might be, a as they said smaller than for dinner there was real value for money. But it really was the food that made the impression. Unfortunately not a BYO for like many similar restaurants the wine list was limited but beer at lunchtime was welcome.

The red duck curry was amazing, best Thai food I've had since visiting Thailand nearly 20 years ago. Compliments to the cheg and the service was also excellent. There are so many hidden gems in this region and this is definitely worth finding.

When the food arrived, the calamari was cold. Delicious, but cold. We told the waitress immediately who said, ‘I’ll put it back in the fryer’ (not a good sign!). We tucked in to the rest of the (very tasty and hot) food, but when the calamari reappeared it was incredibly chewy and inedible. Such a shame as the rest of the meal was really good - well flavoured, nicely cooked and with excellent texture and spice levels! When it came to pay I gave our feedback about the calamari and unfortunately the waitress (same one) didn’t offer to knock it off the bill. If she had, I would have given this a 4 star but she tried to charge us the full price even after we told her, and only removed it (reluctantly) afterwards.
Anyway, all in all would recommend for a surprisingly good meal and at affordable prices with a good drinks selection.

Great Thai food in....Takaka of all places!
Awesome menu with familiar Thai favourites alongside some more innovative and contemporary dishes, large portions, nice friendly atmosphere and staff. We were lucky to get a table without booking as it became very busy later in the evening with tourists and locals alike. Definitely recommended.

I’ve waited for 30 years for a Thai restaurant to open up here in little old Tākaka. It’s arrived and what a brilliant restaurant it is. Lovely decor, great service and best of all fantastic Thai food. We have had visitors staying here at our bnb and also family who say it’s the best Thai food they have tasted in NZ. I agree. Good portions and I think if they keep doing what they are doing then they will become the no 1 restaurant in Golden Bay. They are already for me. The Duck curry is to die for
