"Bron Haul" is translated by the owner as "Sun Hill", however I've since learned that another Welsh translation is "Almost Sun"...much more apt I'm afraid. We arrived on a Monday and it DID NOT STOP RAINING FOR A WEEK!!!! I appreciate that we might have just arrived at a particularly rainy weather episode, but after talking with a lot of people from across the UK (especially Wales) it would seem Blaenau Ffestiniog is the wettest place in the UK. The location is ideal for exploring the Snowdonia area however, and when we drove out of town, the rain seemed to abate or disappear altogether. The cottage is small, but warm and comfortable, and more than sufficient for 2 people. It does need to be pointed out though, that access to the property is by some very steep, slippery steps and to access the back garden/sitting area, there are even more steep, slippery steps. This aspect is not clearly defined in the description. If you have mobility issues, this could pose a problem. The roads leading up to the property are also extremely steep. The cottage sits on the upper row of 3 terraces and negotiating a car up there has it's challenges, as does parking. Margaret is easily contactable and very helpful with any problems.
Clean, warm and well appointed cottage for exploring Snowdonia. Found wine, milk, tea and coffee on arrival. The owner was very helpful and gave us her contact number in case of problems (there were none). Mountain views, nice little town with Co-op and cafes. Would go back again.
