This is a nice old hotel in many ways if not bordering on the eccentric in part with wooden cats everywhere and hunting ‘trophies’ from a time gone by on every wall in the lobby and bar areas. In the newer extension there are comfortable beds in clean tidy rooms. Lovely cooked breakfasts and evening meals if somewhat a limited choice. Friendly staff everywhere, great views to the front and good parking facilities. Overall ideal for couples or young families having a little break in the Oban area. Not so good for business guests though as they don’t take American Express (many places don’t), breakfast doesn’t start until 8am, WiFi is poor and mobile phone signal almost non existent.
To cap it all reception desk was closed around around 21.30 and was still closed when I wanted to check out at 07.15.
However, still a nice old place and I would return if on a leisure break when time was not of the essence but never again for a business trip.

What a lovely experience we had here. Very clean and comfortable accommodation; excellent food, and fantastic staff who were so helpful and friendly and completed the first class experience. Lovely gardens and beautiful furnishings.

Hubby had a 3 course meal , fizzy water & coffee , me main course & a large glass of wine ... £34 ! Faultless , can't wait to go back .

Travelling Solo can sometimes be a difficult experience. However I have to say that I was made to feel welcome at the Falls of Lora Hotel. My room was a twin in the older part of the hotel. It was larger than expected, having read other reviews. The beds were comfortable. The furniture was old, traditional bedroom furniture. I can see that it may not be to everyone’s taste. But it was functional. The room was warm but there was an additional heater supplied if needed. The room was clean with a modern shower and toilet. As this was a traditional Scottish hotel the reception area may not be to everyone’s taste however the residence lounge was lovely. As was the breakfast room. I opted to have an evening meal which was really nice. Chatted to other guests who were also happy with there choices. I also noticed that a lot of customers were locals who seemed to be regulars. Always a good sign. Felt the rooms may be slightly expensive but the meals and alcohol were good value. Nice breakfast served. Views and location with private garden superb. Will look out for future deals here.
