For complete peace and quiet in wonderful surroundings this hotel was a great discovery and we love it, hence our return visits. Our room was comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We ate in one of the two nights and the restaurant was excellent as usual. The swimming pool is an added bonus.

When Le Continental in Forges-les-Eaux doubled booked themselves and cancelled us at the last minute - we ended up here. What a find, even if it meant a few more kilometres to bicycle for 16 elderly cyclists. The food was delicious, the bedrooms comfortable and it was more like being at home than in a hotel. Well worth a visit if you like beautiful things and no noise. Obviously more expensive than Le Continental but then you get what you pay for and this was worth the extra money.

Room Tip: They all seemed perfect.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Beautifully kept areas, clean facilities, plenty of places to walk by the Seine and up to the castle. Lovely village easy walk to restaurants, shops etc. Good for children with pool and play area. The only negative was showers were not very warm. Would definitely recommend.

We have stayed here on four or five occasions over the years. The grounds are so tranquil, the hotel so quiet and the English-speaking manageress so helpful and accommodating that it feels like a corner of heaven.
The dinner menus offer a range of typically Normande cuisine, well prepared, beautifully presented and sufficient to satisfy most appetites. The wine list is comprehensive with enough choice as to suit most tastes.
The location near to Lyons le Foret and Giverney, not to mention towns like Rouen and Beauvais offers plenty of scope for a sightseeing holiday.
All told, a very happy experience awaits☺.

Room Tip: Seek advice on the TV controls. We suspect ours had flat batteries!

We have stayed at the Château du Landel on two occasions this year as it is located in an ideal position en route to and from the channel ports. We are surprised, and regret, that we did not learn of its existence earlier but it will become a regular destination on our itinerary whenever we are heading south.

It is a charming place set in the most tranquil of locations and run by such a warm and welcoming couple. On both occasions we have stayed in Room 12, a large spacious bedroom with high ceilings and lots of light and with a view over the grounds at the rear of the house.

But what really brought us back for a second stay was the food. Between us, my wife and I have consumed a number of items on the menu but in my mind there is one that stands out above the rest. Those who like their ris de veau (sweetbreads) will know that unless êthe chef has talent they can taste very bland. The 'ris de veaux poêlés aux pommes' served here is a masterpiece. The sweetbreads are seared and served with lightly caramalised apple slices in a mouthwatering sauce combining the meat juices, cream and cider. It is stunningly beautiful hommage to Normandy.

We shall return next year.
